He brought the shit on himself really by evading his taxes and stuff but the part of the article that troubles me is that he was charged with 15 counts of obscenity and pled guilty to one of them for transporting a german movie called Nympho Bride acrosss state lines.

The article says that the US Attorney played up the obscenity stuff and actually said : " John Kenneth Coil has been a long time pornography merchant who has made millions selling obscenity and cheating on his taxes. He is finally on his way to federal prison for his crimes,? Sutton said. ?American families have won a battle today in the fight against pornography. Today?s sentences should put those in the hard-core pornography business on notice that there will be a price to pay for violating our obscenity and tax laws.?

you can't excuse the guy for cheating on his taxes, he did and deserves to get punished but the stuff about families winning a battle and porn merchants being put on notice is pretty scary.

Avoiding taxes is 1 thing, saying they won a battle againts pornography, is something completely different.

average webmaster here makes around 1-2K per month.
So, regarding average tax rules he should pay about 30-40% , may be less may be more.
So, it's about $600-$800 if we speak about 2K income.
It's impossible to pay the $800 from 2K income right ? cause it's almost half of his earnings.
If we speak about 8-10K - it's smth. like
about 3K taxes , so it's more acceptable.
What i'm trying to say - you are too optimistic about 35% :) , i think it's about 75% of webmasters who never pay taxes.

But it is true, that they should not be saying anything about the porn for that guy. They went after him for the taxes, and got the porn by chance.

Ashhahahahaha has made it VERY CLEAR he wants to put ALL people involved in porn in prison or out of business. Not just CP people not just tax evaders, ALL OF US. That is why I do not get any adult webmaster supporting Bush. That's like saying you want to go to jail. I mean if Bush said he wanted to put all Microsoft workers in prison or out of work how many would vote for him? NONE. Same goes for ANY other business, except appearantly this one. There are some SERIOUS dumbasses in this biz and that post here, that's for sure.

'Evading' them (from a business sense) is bad too.. but from a personal income standpoint, it's a whole different story..
