Insurance money. It was all just a big scam with everyone involved.

Didn't he do it for the money or something, I don't think he knew what would really happen. That's just my vague memory from the movie, it was awhile ago when I first saw it and I don't remember the details too well. :2 cents:

yes for the money, but didnt really get the whole deal.

insurance money doesn make sense because her father was hoping to have her back after a couple of days.

He owed his fathers past dets and he had to pay one way or the other, so he agrred to have his daughter kidnapped so he could collect never expecting that the deal would go bad.

They had kidnapper's insurance. She was only supposed to be gone for a few days, but then they fucked up the money drop and one of the kidnapper's brothers was killed.

Also any traumatic happenings can be written off on taxes, it was not mentioned but it is something to think about. Saw this movie last night, first Training Day and now this movie, he is really turning them out now!

PetMyKitty 09-20-2004 01:22 PM

the ransom was for 10million
the lawyer kept 2.5 million and crooked cop stole the 2.5million that was suppose to go to the kidnapper.. the dad was going to keep the other 5 million.

Thanks for posting this. Saw the movie last night and was trying to figure out why the dad did it. Makes sense now.
