SP2 POPUP FRENZY solution#2

With so many new methods of popping up windows for sp2 , it seems the built in popup protection isn't as good as it at first may have appeared. And a huge flaw i found in drm allows some pretty crazy things :)

Anyways if you have SP2 patch this will work to get around it, it should work with most browsers / systems etc.. as the drm popups are geared in such a way the i.e. popup protection is not implemented..

even more of a reason for drm solutions for the time being.

* and an obvious monopoly move by microsoft. or just a foolish mistake.

http://gfy-sp2.blogspot.com/

p.s. if the page does not work the first tme just hit refresh..

have fun boys and girls..

btw those of you using webair can use webair drm for this..

btw if you have your google blocker on it may not work so turn it off. i can make it beat that too but i just did not use it in this example.

SP2 pop-up block caught the license query. No pop, smokey.

thats not a default setting though is it..

I used a few fresh machines to test it, all with sp2 , a few have been tinkered with but one is a fresh install ??

Actually let me explain... the license opens but a new pop warning window also opens. There is a yellow bar across the top of the licennce pop ("popup blocked"). "Smokey the Bear" appears inside the license window along with a "play" and a "cancel" button along with two scroll bars on the right of the License Aquisistion window.

yes the internal bar is just blocking the example popup i made. I could change it to a better one , hold on, and i will change it and you tell me if it works or not

Juicy D. Links 09-18-2004 07:13 PM

It worked

SP2 Default settings on Laptop.

WiredGuy 09-18-2004 07:22 PM

It worked for me too but took a long time (presumably loading the DRM license?). Either way, I don't think you need so many consoles to prove you point but congrats on getting around it :)

Smokey hit me up on icq 63125103 want to discuss something with you.

Makingcoin 09-18-2004 07:48 PM

So you embedded a drm video that opens the license agreement page? Is it the license agreement page that spawns all the pop ups?

I didnt get a popup. I have my active-x disabled in IE, which is probably the reason your popup didnt work. Disabling active-x is not the default setting in IE, so your popup will still work for the majority of users. Good job. :glugglug

yes , it gets around the normal popup protection built into i.e. and also the blocker from google

the key is building a very small video file or wma to load fast

OzMan 09-18-2004 09:57 PM

worked for me 12 or so windows popped up. :eyecrazy though I had never heard of any of the sites popped except for "Juicycash" of course :glugglug

TheSenator 09-18-2004 10:09 PM

What kind of software can I use DRM?

JSA Matt 09-18-2004 10:11 PM

Didn't get anything but an "upgrade your DRM" popup with SP1... interesting though :glugglug

DWB 09-18-2004 10:20 PM

I'm so fucking lost here. A zillion pops came up... I saw Juicy... I hit play... nada. :helpme

WiredGuy 09-18-2004 10:41 PM

Can this be implemented for an exit console? Right now it seems to work on entry, can it be done do pop onclose or exit?

This is not a solution to exits in any way... :2 cents:

Lange 09-18-2004 11:28 PM

I had something 2 years ago that worked in DRM...I haven't tried it with SP2. I'll have to find that sucker.

Trax 09-19-2004 03:32 AM

not bad
so its no option for an exit?

Im not sure why it matters. make a popup on enter that hides focus and its basically the same as an exit..

thanks...I found less evasive ways to use this exploit.

Is there any DRM besides Webair that do adult content?
thanks

no kidding, It produces errors/security warnings with certain settings/media player versions... What you gain from popups you will lose by scaring visitors with security warnings....

Jace 09-24-2004 05:42 PM

jesus, now THAT was an assault of popups...haha

Follow-up:
I get the exact same thing with SP2, the "DRM security update" dialog... nothing more.
