Very bad idea, not because of the moral delima you seem to propose though.

sickkittens 09-18-2004 04:04 PM

CheneyRumsfeld 09-18-2004 04:05 PM

Grammar Police 09-18-2004 04:07 PM

You need help with your broadband bill that badly? Tell him to eat shit and get his own connection.

zazzouche 09-18-2004 04:46 PM

Internet these days is very cheap, don't risk it!

brand0n 09-18-2004 04:47 PM

this is an older friend of mine, hes just a surfer and wouldnt know where to start as far as starting a cc fraud processing unit lol.

he brought it up in hopes of just getting on highspeed, and no, i dont need help paying my cable bill idiots.

Shoehorn! 09-18-2004 04:51 PM

I did that when I lived in a dorm my first year of college. Bought a router and ran CAT5 to anyones room who wanted to pay me for it. I'd do it, its not really stealing, you're paying for it already, so you might as well share and cut your bill in half. :2 cents:

skoalman 09-18-2004 06:30 PM

Check with your ISP's TOS, I've yet to see a standard ISP that would allow it. If your not runing WAP on your network, start now as WEP is easier to crack now then ever thanks to the crew over at netstumbler.org.

TurboAngel 09-18-2004 06:32 PM

Fuck no don't do it! We let the asshole below us have free internet and look what he did!

:(

arg 09-18-2004 06:47 PM

I'd say it totally depends on your relationship with the guy and how much you trust him. Since you said he's a friend, and you think he's a safe enough surfer, I'd go for it. There are some bad worst case scenarios, but I wouldn't hesitate to do it with any of my friends if they wanted.

I would keep your own stuff firewalled independently of the wireless router, because even if he's trustworthy, he might get infected with something, have his box 0wn3d, then you've potentially got malevolent 3rd parties on your side of the router.

TheSenator 09-18-2004 07:34 PM

The girl next door gave me a blowjob once a month for internet connection.

Exactly, wtf its a business expense for you anyway

pornkitten 09-18-2004 10:33 PM

make sure the network is secure and give him your password (change from the preset of course) Make sure you trust him and all his friends arent logging on too, Id mostly be concerned with the security risk.
