TAMPA - For the past month, Kathryn Harrington has stared down the possibility of a criminal trial, a $10,000 fine and the stigma of being deemed a security risk at Tampa International Airport.

The reason? She had a bookmark with her as she passed through airport security screening.

"It was a bookmark," Harrington said. "It's not a weapon. I could not understand why I was being handcuffed and put into a police car. I cried for hours."

A month after airport police arrested her on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon - the bookmark - it appears Harrington, a 52-year-old special education teacher from Laurel, Md., could be clear of a potential $10,000 fine.

What makes this complete bullshit is that you're permitted to bring on a corkscrew, knitting or crochet needles with your carry on luggage into the cabin, but not your bookmark, think I am pulling your leg, look for yourself. :feels-hot

all it takes right now is for the terrorists to buy a more expensive ticket and they have some sort of weapon on board a plane

It's sad how much she's lying and people are going for it. Smuggling weapons onto a plane deserves jail time. She may have been paid to give it to someone...

I carry a leather sap with me regularly, there is a real difference between a weighted bookmark and a sap.

Now a blackjack has a weighted nub on the end of a leather handle...
