Anyone running Norton Internet Security?

If so, I've had a possible issue come up with the loading of some of the banners on my site. Could you take the time to load http://www.persiankitty.com/ scroll down to just below the jump station and see if the two banners in bordered colored tables (my rotation script) load for you...

I've had someone tell me that when running Norton Internet Security my rotation banners don't load and that the Teen Steam banner after the list of links isn't there either.

Thanks in advance.

I don't do partner accounts. After some time of having galleries accepted I will often auto-accept galleries from frequent submitters, but I always check each of them.

Hiya hon! Long time since I have talked to you. I do not see any of the three banners you are referring to. Hit me up on ICQ if you need more information or if I can help you out in more detail:)

Take care!

Everything looks good to me PersianKitty. I don't have the ad-blockers or pop-up blockers on but everything else is running.

VIPimp 09-17-2004 05:11 PM

NO they dont load for me on the comp running norton net security.
Most sites dont load correctly when I run this program.

BVF 09-17-2004 05:11 PM

I run norton and it seems like the coeds need cash banner is static and the banner under it rotates.

scratch that...both rotate now

GiantGnome 09-17-2004 05:12 PM

i have it and hate it. i have to turn it off to see images

PersianKitty 09-17-2004 09:28 PM

Bump..

anyone else? Guess my admin is going to spend the weekend trying to figure this one out. Don't need to be losing banner views.

Drake 09-17-2004 09:44 PM

PK, I'm running Norton Security and I can see all banners on your site.

Try disabling the "Ad Blocking" on your Norton Security.

NoHassleSteve 09-17-2004 09:45 PM

Ask your admin if any of the images are served from servers that check referring URL to stop hot-linking.

Norton Internet Security will default to NOT pass the HTTP_REFER for "privacy".

It can be changed or customized.

I'm sure Norton's website tells how.

:2 cents:

One more good reason to replace Norton.

I am using NIS and on many sites ( or galleries ) the graphics don't load. :(

nickjcuk 09-18-2004 07:12 AM

no show for me either..

what sizes are the banners? not sure if its relevant but i know for sure that nortons blocks regular banner sizes, like 480x60 - i changes some of mine to 479x59 and they show up fine...

None of them are 480 x 60.

Thing is.. I don't run it.. it's not me I'm worried about. It's the banner loads on the site. If 40% of the people who visit the site are running NIS, that's a ton of missed banner views. Trying to see if the person who brought it to my attention was an isolated case or not. Guess not. Now the task is changing the site so that the banners all load even if someone is using NIS.

Spunky 09-18-2004 10:01 AM

They are probably having the same situation..I actually deleted a ton of galleries cause they didn't show my button on their submissions..Not knowing it was Norton causing it..I think it has to do with Norton spoting it is as a restricted site or something.Once I removed it my buttons would appear

Sharky 09-18-2004 10:17 AM

This is a VERY common complaint with the default installs for NIS. I ran into it with some javascript code I put on a mainstream clients site.

This was discussed here before, and on the sitepoint.com mainstream message board. I would do a search for it on there.

Sharky 09-18-2004 10:18 AM

for NIS users to bypass it.. they have to disable the "Ad blocking" feature in NIS.
