Share a sale, Aff Fuel are top notch.
Leadhound has lots of offers for foreign traffic
Leadcrunch has potential, but they still have a limited amount of offers compared to other larger networks
Never heard of linkconnector.
Clickxchange, dealt with them a long time ago, and then stopped.

Have to agree with masterE - Shareasale seems to be the network that gets the most props on the maijor mainstream boards.

CJ and Linkshare come in for a lot of criticism for allowing parasites in as affiliates.

I also think that Shareasale has the cheapest setup .

I set a merchant account up there the other week for someone else and the steps to getting it up and running were fairly painless.

Yep Share a sale and their other network (FineClicks) have painless setups for merchants (and a large network of affiliates). Affiliate Fuel has a higher deposit and I'm not 100% sure they are as large as Share a sale.
Leadhound has lots of foreign webmasters in their network and cater to more of the international offers, mainly since they are based in the UK.

I've got my affiliate program for my humor site at FineClicks, great results, lots of quality affiliates. They do tracking by img tags, so it is easy to intergrate into a shopping cart etc.

Thanks so much masterE for your sharing your opinions. That was very helpful. It's like an alpahabet soup of networks out there and I wasn't sure who was who...If you know of any others that are as credible as Share A Sale and Affiliate Fuel, I would love to know another one or two to hit up.

Yes, its $150 to set up with ShareaSale and their staff was responsive...so I will give them a try but would like to spread it around to a few others. I just heard back from Affiliate Fuel, and while no start up cost, they say the minimum is $5k to start a campaign with them.

Direct Response (in sig) has a nice solution and also has a product called Direct Trak, startup is $995, then $50 per month for things like bandwidth etc. Only thing is, you still have to pay out your affiliates yourself if you use Direct Trak. Direct Response handles all payouts to affiliates if you go with their in house program. Talking with my rep, I got the impression that you *could* have them handle payouts too with Direct Trak, but that would result in a large cash deposit.

One that you should stay away from is ClixGalore, they scammed me out of a couple hundred dollars a while back when I opened a merchant account with them. If you do a search for "Clixgalore" in google, one of my sites is the 4th or 5th result, it makes for interesting reading. Just look for the site that has references to fleas :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

The other network is FineClicks ($50 or $100 deposit, can't remember), this is now owned by Share a sale. I've been with them since day one, even used to do graphics work for the old owner, and the merchant area is easy to use, lots of top affiliates to run your offer, and you get the same level of support as the main Share a sale program.

There's another one around now too but I can't remember their name.

MasterE might recall because I think he hangs out on the same mainstream board I do and it is often mentioned there (although I now can't find a thread) - I think the only catch is that you have to use their affiliate software.

Ha, I did read that the other day as ClixGalore was the first network to return my call and did a google search and found your article, and that's what got me paranoid enough to make this thread and ask around more who to trust. I saw a bunch of so called "review" sites but wasn't sure if they were there for the referral money and opinions couldn't be trusted.

Is this board the large SEO board or are there niche boards for affiliate network chatter? If there are, I would really appreciate an email so I can investigate further - hershie @ adultcontentzone.com

You've got mail :)

masterE 09-17-2004 03:00 PM

Hmmmm. Dark Blue maybe? I tried to get a program running with them and really didn't like the setup, and the $500 fee sight unseen on results turned me off.

I frequent SP if that is the one you are talking about Steve, or WHT, plus a few others.

Ahh, your talking about "My Affiliate Program" myap.com I bet, yeah with that one you use their software, and the stats etc. really aren't all that peachy from what I've seen. A couple humor places I run ads for use that setup, it just seems to basic, no gadgets or anything :1orglaugh

The Other Steve 09-17-2004 03:28 PM

I must have had you confused with someone else over on ABW :)

Hehe, no I don't get over there much, don't know why but it never grew on me. I do have a username over there, not sure what it is though :1orglaugh

I got it. Much appreciated :thumbsup
They look very helpful in so many ways.

Darkblue is AWESOME to deal with. I love their system!! A+ so use them if you can.

Clickxchange turned to crap, you get paid late and they do funky stuff like remove sponsors without notifying you etc. Avoid them.

BradM 09-17-2004 04:10 PM

Also, affiliatefuel has been excellent since day one.
I've dealt with them in the past for huge ad campaigns and they are easy to deal with, and honest people. I'd love to have some biz for them again.

Thanks Brad for the comments. I just received an I/O from Affiliate Fuel and they brought down their minimum commitment to $3500 for me to test them out.

Hope you are enjoying yourself down there.
