does a .com extension have an SE result advantage?
Does .com have an advantage of .us when being searched for ?
Thanks |
no
|
interesting question in practise no but a dot com should be able to rank higher..
|
The main advantage is type in.
If I tell you I have a product called Mywidget, what will you type into an se to find it? mywidget.com. |
yea I would type .com, but someone is ginving 25 .info domains away form free. I reformatted and lost the link :(
|
Ah well.. nothing ventured nothing gained.. nothing lost.
|

Not everyone, but a number of registrars are giving away 25 free .infos (first year only), with Afilias (the folks who run .info) underwriting the promotion. I get spammed about this by registrars regularly.

actually in terms of alphabetical listing in directories it does, so by ranking higher in content replicated directories like dmoz you get a better ranking on link popularity based search engines like google.
does it effect it directly no does it effect you indirectly yes |
I had not heard of the free ones.
Ahh but right now I have no use for one. |
The only advantage .coms really have is that people are more likely going to click them in the serps.
A lot of people learned that .info .biz domains or subdomains will result in spam, popups, redirects, ... I do not say this is always the case. But a clean indexed .com gets more exposure from what I've noticed! |
