More new USA coins - the new NICKEL

what the fuuuuuuuuuuck is up with all these new designs for our money? First they change the paper bills a few times then they go to the quarters, now they are fucking with the nickels!

I had no fucking idea there were 2 different nickels last year - but they jsut put out the new designs for next year - both front and back - WTF. How much money is all this shit costing us?

I have watched the learning channel and the discovery channel shows on the US mints. Coin production is super cheap per unit. In the neighborhood of fractions of a cent each. The only real cost of production past the blanks cost is the time and cost to make the die's. After that it is just standard run of the mill stamping like normal.
Currency is being decirculated every day by the banks, both coins and notes. Coins however seem to last an insane amount of time in circulation.
The US mints are doing just fine and the collectors more than pay for the cost of die production. So do not fret and think that this is costing us shit.

Oh and since it was brought up, out of the circulated coins (penny through quarter) the nickle has the most expensive blank, yet it still costs under a penny for the product.

The cost of production isn't the real problem with this, the real problem is decirculation not keeping up with what we're printing.

How many times have I heard "you could goto the movies (picture show, silent), and eat, with a date for a nickel!"

Basic supply and demand.

US has debts, problem is we print money to pay for them rather than cutting back on spending in other areas.

plus the cost to DESIGN the new coin. No way you can tell me that is cheap.

Add up each of the 50 different quarters, the 4 different nickels and all the new paper money designs... that adds up greatly.
