Can I sue the school for wrongly accusing my son of theft?
Am I making a big deal out of nothing? He says he cleared it up with the office but he is still banned from snack bar. I know that doesnt sound important but the label will stick with him until his name is cleared.
What should we do? I feel like going over there and yelling at them but with my temper I would probably get tossed in jail. |
Can I sue Lensman for the fact that I just read this thread?

do what you think is right! If i am the parent i will surely due a case against them... imagine the trauma it will bring on your son...?

sorry if reputation means alot to me.

Do you feel that taking money out of the school system and reducing funds for education the right thing to do? Do you think that money is a good payment for the issues you are talking about. If it is the principle of the thing, then maybe you can sue to cause aggrivation and not take money away from the school board? Maybe sue and then give it all back or buy things for the schools and then donate it to them?

go in there with a baseball bat.
the solution to everything ^ |

Your kid supposedly stole a candy bar from the snack bar? Other kids are stealing their favorite clothes at the mall. If reputation is so important to you, than shouldn't he already have a sterling reputation that will overpower any theft accusation? In high school if I was accused of theft nobody would believe it. Cheating on a test? Nah, no way. Why? Because I actually had a reputation. |
How old is he? I would definitely go up to the school and talk to someone about it. I am not saying your son is lying, but usually a kid can't "Clear it up" with the office... It takes an adult. Maybe he misunderstood them, and he's actually still in trouble. I would definitely go just to clear things up in your mind.
Even if he did steal something, so what?? Unless this is an ongoing thing, tell them to fuck off... repremand him yes, but don't BAN him from the snack bar... UGH! I hate schools these days. I can only imagine what my son will go through as he gets older... Just my :2 cents: |

If I were you I would just go talk to the princibal. My mom had to sort out a lot of BS at school. Just go in knowing that you cant flip out.

suing schools is never good.
Bitching at teachers works and gives your son the rep back from his fellow thiefs....er i mean students |
mistakes happen.. it's cleared up.. move on....
i don't think after next week anyone will hardly remember.. and if my son was accused of stealing snacks from the snack bar and he didn't do it.. more than likely he was hanging with someone who did.. in that case he needs a lecture on hanging around the wrong crowd.. because 9 times outta 10.. the innocent person always takes the fall. maybe if he was arrested or handcuffed in front of the whole school or expelled or something.. then maybe........ |
How old is your son?
It's important to be an advocate for them, but as they get older, they need to learn to take responsibility for themselves. Whether or not you intervene on his behalf should depend on his age...but I'm sure you can come to an agreement with the school either way without involving legal counsel. |

no body is sueing anyone. this is just one of those times i decided to become a protective parent. the meds kicked in and i feel better now. I will go back to not paying attention and let his mother handle the kid stuff.:thumbsup

Sue for $1, letter of apology, public announcement of apology, and restitution of all your child's school privledges in small claims.
|
Noting that threads header was "Can I sue...".
Naturally you can sue. If a lawyer sees a way to make some money, they'll take ANY case under the sun. |

In america you can sue everybody for everything with the right lawyer, the only thing is that he should change schools after a lawsuite. :thumbsup
|
Pull the kid out of school and move to a real state...California!!
:winkwink: :thumbsup |
IF YOU ARE IN THE USA YOU CAN SUE ANYONE FOR ANYTHING!
|
What type of evidence does the school have?
If a lunch room employee saw him do this, good luck. |

Life consist of things like this. Many kids overcome much worse.
He will be accused of things again, all people are. It is the nature of life. |

utterly pathetic. You would sue over this shit? I'm sorry that life isn't being fair for him right now over a damn snack bar but he can sort this shit out himself. It's sue happy parents like you that are fucking up society.
|
Maybe you should go talk to them before.
|
when you're calm, set up an appointment with your child's school. have a nice talk. to educators, the saddest thing in the world is the apathy of parents.
you might learn something :winkwink: |
