Google Puzzle Being Used To Find New Recruits
 

Read a great news story this morning on Google's new approach to hiring engineers, by using puzzles on billboards:

Also, a pretty neat pitch by Google.

The first one is pretty easy, just a simple lookup on prime numbers will find it. The second one is actually tricky. Gotta figure out 4 sequences of numbers are actually the sum of digits equal to 49 and could be found in sequence of digits of 'e'. Those google guys love 'e' for some reason.

Off the top of their heads, I hope not. That'd be an uber geek! The second one is really the tricky one to see if you can figure out what the 4 sequences really mean.

Trying out various things on them, the following turned up which seemed a little too coincendental to be a coincendence:

7+1+8+2+8+1+8+2+8+4 = 49
8+1+8+2+8+4+5+9+0+4 = 49
8+7+4+7+1+3+5+2+6+6 = 49
7+4+2+7+4+6+6+3+9+1 = 49

So a quick check if these are the first 4 values of 10-digit chunks of e that sum to 49, which they turned out to be.
