Google Puzzle Being Used To Find New Recruits
Read a great news story this morning on Google's new approach to hiring engineers, by using puzzles on billboards:
This is the ad they are showing at Cambridge: http://www.npr.org/programs/morning/...oard_large.jpg Quote:
And now for the spoilers if you're interested :) Test 1, Asks you to go to: http://7427466391.com/ Test 2, The Password is: 5966290435 I guess I could apply to Google now :) WG |

The first number is the first segment of e and the other numbers also are all segments of e.

Trying out various things on them, the following turned up which seemed a little too coincendental to be a coincendence: 7+1+8+2+8+1+8+2+8+4 = 49 8+1+8+2+8+4+5+9+0+4 = 49 8+7+4+7+1+3+5+2+6+6 = 49 7+4+2+7+4+6+6+3+9+1 = 49 So a quick check if these are the first 4 values of 10-digit chunks of e that sum to 49, which they turned out to be. 7182818284 8182845904 8747135266 7427466391 5966290435 2952605956 0753907774 0777449920 3069697720 1252389784 :glugglug |

Congratulations.
Nice work. Well done. Mazel tov. You've made it to Google Labs and we're glad you're here. One thing we learned while building Google is that it's easier to find what you're looking for if it comes looking for you. What we're looking for are the best engineers in the world. And here you are. As you can imagine, we get many, many resumes every day, so we developed this little process to increase the signal to noise ratio. We apologize for taking so much of your time just to ask you to consider working with us. We hope you'll feel it was worthwhile when you look at some of the interesting projects we're developing right now. You'll find links to more information about our efforts below, but before you get immersed in machine learning and genetic algorithms, please send your resume to us at [email protected]. We're tackling a lot of engineering challenges that may not actually be solvable. If they are, they'll change a lot of things. If they're not, well, it will be fun to try anyway. We could use your big, magnificent brain to help us find out. |
That's just genious
