Considering that DoomIII was supposed to be a remake and not a completely new game that's no surprise to me.

It seems that all the critisism I hear about DoomIII and it's game play is about how there's nothing overly new and innovative in the game except for the graphics.

But the whole point of DoomIII to begin with was to recreate the original Doom with kickass graphics .. which is exactly what ID has done.

I just wish they didn't make it so you had to buy a whole new computer with the game to be able to play it.

yah the graphics is too heavy, i have a p4 2.6/ 1Gb memory and msi fx5200 vid card and still dont move that smooth like counter stirke and other game does :(
i think i need a better vid card :(

IMHO The whole mission of ID's games is to
1)Build the best ENGINES, not necessarily the best games - then let dozens of other companies use your engine.

2)Make those engines squeeze every drop out of existing hardware so that the graphics card manufacturers have to innovate to keep up. They have stated repeatedly that they don't mind making players upgrade their machines just to play.

I bought a new video card just to play doom3, got 60fps no matter what and I can tell tell you it's really nice to play and real scary ;)
