You get the idea. I've been Googling for specific social studies involving status symbols and social dynamics but I haven't really found anything too interesting.

A car is part of the image you project, hence the way others perceive you and rank you socially. If that's important to you, go for a slightly used luxury car. If you only seek practicality, buy some random Jap car.

yea a car is a status symbol, it lets people know where you stand on the social ladder. Drive a beat up 1993 honda then you must be flipping burgers or mopping floors. Drive a corvette you must be a doctor or a dentist.

to me, my car is an extention of self, and it says alot about the person.

When i drove a benz sl 600 for a while i couldve gotten 10x more pussy than i without that car. At least without effort. It was crazy. Girls driving next to me waving with cell phones. Girls yelling from their house window while waiting for the red lights, etc. There was rarely a day something like that didnt happen when driving that car. I can tell you it never happened while driving a Fiat for years.

Then with the bmw convertible i got people looking but no girls drooling. Its too macho. Too noisy. It seems they like classy sport cars like the benz. (it was silver in case that might matter :) )

A car is a status symbol, but the funny thing is that it can be any type of car. It depends on what it looks like, and how you put it to use.

For instance, You have a nice convertable merc. Everyone looves to see them, but dont you think that a copy of the Austin Powers Mini is just as cool?? A lot of people do.

I drive a red RX8 with all of the little trimmings and I try to keep the car pretty clean. I do get a pretty good amount of girls that'll say stuff like "nice car" or "i love your car" etc at stoplights or driving around or whatever.

It's not a supercar or anything but the girls seem to really like it.

Definitly. I've noticed that I get a lot more attention driving a 350-Z than when I was driving an Avalanche. Chicks love fast cars that they can sit in and tell their friends "Look what I get to ride in just for giving up some coochie!"

Car reflects your personality and type of people you want to associate with. Show up in your old home town in a fancy car and have all your old friends call you a sell out and hate your guts. Ever lived in a small town where nobody has a job? You show up with money made in the city they will resent you. Try it sometime. They won't say it, but they'll think it.

Since I really dont give a fuck about how people perceive me, especially some jerkoff fag on the street that I dont even know, or some fuckin whore golddigger, i just buy what I like, because its what i like at the moment I'm buying it... and no other reason whatsoever.

I also tend to keep a car about 6 months then I'm bored and trade it for something else, except for my 98 vette, I kept it for 2 years but only put 14k miles on it.

In the USA it really matters what car you drive. When I have driven a prestige car like Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, I always get more interest from women. I know it is shallow and stupid but hey, if it gets me more and better pussy then I will continue doing this because you only live once.

I have lived in Europe and there it does not really matter so much. Girls in Europe will fuck just for their own pleasure of having sex and do not use sex as a bargaining chip nearly as much as USA women.
