Is Anyone Here Good At Putting Together Office Furniture?

Honestly I hate putting together stuff, it takes me soooooooo fucking long!

Staples just dropped off my new home office stuff. Desk, chair and book shelf unit and fuck me if I'm going to put it together. I got a kid from the store to come out after work and put it together for $15 an hour.

How about you guys, are you mechanically inclined or are you a dumbass like myself that has no patience?

DH

P.S. If anyone is good at putting together basketball nets and hockey nets please come over and put that shit together for me too! LOL! I have beer here for you!!

TurboAngel 09-14-2004 10:56 AM

I would give the kid the $15 an hour.

Too bad you're so far away... I'm GREAT at that stuff!

NickPapageorgio 09-14-2004 11:00 AM

My previous career was in building so I got no problem with it. I can throw an entertainment center together in about 30 minutes right out of the box. My car on the other hand is another story. I can't hardly put gas in it without losing nuts and bolts.

TurboAngel 09-14-2004 11:01 AM

Well go back to the store and offer the kid beer and dinner, that might work? I feel for ya, it took Turboface and one of my friends about 7 hours to put are entertainment center together.

:(

bangman- 09-14-2004 11:01 AM

Same with me.

I don't have the patience to put together all the office furnture.
It took me close to 6 hours just to put together this desk I'm at now.
Next time I'm paying someone ;):glugglug

liquidmoe 09-14-2004 11:09 AM

Its kinda fun putting that shit together, the problem I have is over tightening screws and understanding the retarded ass instructions so I usually end up with the piece assembled but with some holes here or there that shouldnt be there.

But I dont stress it, I think it adds character :thumbsup

SleazyDream 09-14-2004 11:10 AM

i always pay someone to do it for me.

Rich 09-14-2004 11:10 AM

Dumbass with with no patience here, when I lived in BC I had a guy who I'd hire for all my major assembly/small building needs.

WiredGuy 09-14-2004 11:10 AM

What do you think employees are for? Get the whip out and show them who's boss! Make it worth their while, give them a beer and pizza :)

LadyMischief 09-14-2004 11:10 AM

Hehe I did that last time, but it took 2 of them damn near all day to put it together. Hence lost productivity and lost revenues. :(

This kid from the store has come out a few times and is pretty good. The only problem is that he is a Jahova's Witness so we have to keep the porn talk on the low down while he is around. LOL!

C-Bass 09-14-2004 11:26 AM

instructions are for wuzzes!!

I built my whole ikea apartment without one single set of instructions! :thumbsup

BradM 09-14-2004 11:27 AM

I have mastered putting together office chairs.

SykkBoy 09-14-2004 11:32 AM

I'm mechanically declined...changing the wiper blades on the van is my biggest mechanical achievement...

putting things together is hit or miss, depending upon the position of the moon and alignment of the planets.....but usually ends with me throwing tools, swearing a lot and causing my wife to quietly whisper to the kids "come on kids, let's leave daddy alone and go to the park before he accidently hits himself in the forehead with a hammer again during a tizzy fit"

brizzad 09-14-2004 11:36 AM

i built my entire house with a scredriver, some ducttape, silly puddy, and newspaper :glugglug

DH I would have done it for the beer I drink while building it I love putting shit together

tony286 09-14-2004 12:06 PM

I have done it myself and it sucks. Where I worked my boss had the guy from the store come and do it after it took us hours to do. He had a walkman on (this was a while ago) and a electric screwdriver, he was done in 30 minutes.

Peaches 09-14-2004 12:08 PM

My son kicks ASS on putting together anything. It's that engineer mind of his. I have things I save and wait for him to come home and put together for me - I'm useless :(

RobD 09-14-2004 12:37 PM

I hate it, I have no patience, thatīs why my computer is on top of a box and I sit on the floor7

kenny 09-14-2004 12:40 PM

The instructions make it easy to put things together.

I am good at putting things together. I can put together a house for example :)

Cars.. I suck at cars

kinkykerri 09-14-2004 12:41 PM

Im a chick and I can put that stuff together. Even though half the time the instructions are in either german or some other lanauge. Good luck getting it together...but if you just sit down with it for a few minutes - take a deep breath - you can get through it! PROMISE! :thumbsup

chase 09-14-2004 12:43 PM

I'm the one who always gets stuck putting everybody's stuff together here. Not just my parents, but my friends come to me too to figure shit out. Assembly, school projects, electronic stuff, blah blah blah....they always come to me with it, lol.

Tricksy 09-14-2004 01:12 PM

I'm excited to start putting stuff together then I lose my patience and ask 4 help :helpme

rip raster 09-14-2004 02:12 PM

seems to be a familiar situation

GTS Mark 09-14-2004 02:18 PM

BTW the kid is over right now and put the desk together in less than 15 fricking minutes! LOL!

Now he is working on the bookshelves and chair. The power of Jahova is working behind this boy!
