There's an identical thread on another board about Extreme Paychecks doing the same thing. Here was their response...I'm sure you could apply this answer to your question... Also, why don't you try mailing them first before you start spewing shit across large message boards?

"Hey __________, we do not sell webmaster e-mails!
Do you actually think that would be a smart business practice or that selling webmaster e-mails would really be worth it?
Well the answer to both those questions would be NO. So once again Extreme Paychecks does not sell e-mails and we do not spam either. Its funny how out of the thousands of webmasters promoting Extreme Paychecks your the only one complaining about getting spam mail. Do you think maybe someone else got a hold of your e-mail address???

Next time you have an issue how about e-mailing us and discussing your problem instead of running to the boards and making false accusations.

Here's my e-mail: _____@__________________

Itīs highly unlikely, or impossible, that a mailer probed/scanned that address from that server, thats just plain BS. Rogue employee or something sounds more like it..

If someone try to harvest all real email adress from your domain, you can see ALOT of bandwith usage in the log ... easy to find out if its this or not

and if you use wildcard email , they cant find shit, all emails are valid ...

Have you ever heard of DICTIONARY spamming? I get hundreds of email per day on all of my domains, there is spam software that can randomize email addresses based on any type of word database you insert into it.

soul isn't some special word that nobody would ever use, if you want to have 100% positive results in monitoring who passes your email to others, then use something a little more original, even soulcash would have been better since it isn't a regular word :2 cents:

Ppl use DICTIONARY on big free email service or isp domains, not on a retarded domain.

He not received 400 copy of the same email on his domain emails from a dictionary random shit.

He received one email.

Oh! and its the one used on soulcash. Strange!

Bullshit. I admin over 300 websites, all unique domains, none of them are yahoo or aol, and they are hit with this same shit all the time.

If they have a catchall mailbox setup they will get all of them, if they are bouncing invalid addresses, then they would only get the ones that make a successful hit.

Then why wasn't there a discreet email to soulcash instead of an accusational thread here on GFY? I thought GFY was the webmaster board were webmasters come and talk about programs that they've had experiences with, not the official board to accuse and slander, or the support forum for every sponsor program in existance.

I would suspect in this instance this is not the case.
If it were in fact dictionary spamming then I would get a mail for EVERY word this person attempted to use since I have wildcard e-mail. *@mydomain.com and I will get it.

PS platinum bucks has also had this same "problem" within the past few weeks.

Anna_O 09-14-2004 06:55 AM

Next to that, Why would a program sell their webmaster e-mail list to spam a pornsite?

there was no accusations of soulcash spamming webmasters email addresses. there was a question asking soulcash to explain how those emails were being spammed when soulcash and only soulcash had a hold of them? hacker, disgruntled employee, you sold the list....etc. what is the explanation?

Give us a few and we'll have some answers for you asap:)

I got that spam, too, and I got in in my tampabay.rr.com mailbox.....not harvested from my domains.
BUT, while I tried to sign up with Soulcash, I was never able to log in with the user and password I chose, and never received any welcome email.

speakthetruth 09-14-2004 09:52 AM

I got spammed to. I am going to sue all the spammers.

Anna_O 09-14-2004 09:57 AM

Well, going out for a couple of hours now, would be nice to see an explanation when we get back...

MrJackMeHoff 09-14-2004 10:01 AM

haha this thread is funny. Soulcash like every other affilliate program DOES SELL EMAILS I know from experience. STFU about it already. Thanks for playing.

Tanker 09-14-2004 10:06 AM

what doesnt make sense is why would they spam an affiliate list with a surfer spam

I know seth doesnt sell his list thats just stupid

how your address got on the list is a good question I am sure sixnine will be looking into this to find out how they got it but I seriously doubt he sold it or gave it away thats just stupid

Holly 09-14-2004 10:40 AM

Anna-
For what it's worth, lately I've gotten spam to 3 or 4 of my webmaster accounts.

Looking through my inbox, just for the past two weeks:

Bloody Virginz to my stupidcash address
Zoo Sex to my stupidcash address
Suntrust Internet Banking to my lightspeed address
Apollo Penis patch to my quickbuck address
PGF-3 OTC penis pills to my quickbuck address
Another pgf-3 to quickbuck address
Another Apollo to my quickbuck address

And of course, the never ending mail to my plat bucks address from that prizeservers domain and another one. That's been going on since last year but I have them filtered directly to the garbage now.

I also got one from pornkings but I think they messed up and accidentally mailed their webmaster list, because it was legit- had the sex. explicit header, their name, address, remove, etc. It was the only time it happened.

Interesting... This is the first I've heard of this, but I'll be on the lookout for more complaints.

We don't sell, trade, or distribute our webmaster's private info in any way beside passing it on to our credit card processor as required by their fraud control department.

And it wasn't a hack into our boxes because I'd have a noticeable amount of identical spam to my 50+ SoulCash accounts with a multitude of different addy's which we've created over the years for testing.

Wouldn't be the first time a processor has 'lost' emails. I highlight processor as I believe I can take sixnine for his word and other processors are notorious for this.

I use to care, and still do somewhat, about spam. But eventually said to hell with it and got a filter that is 99.+% accurate. 99.+% is more accurate than me trying to sort 500 spams a day and mistakingly deleting real mail.

Tempest 09-14-2004 11:53 AM

I've been getting these spam emails as well. I just love extremepaychecks response. Especially since I use "unique" email addresses with every sponsor these days.
