Has anyone ordered Estaban's

...guitar and amp? If so how is the tone?

Actually it is Esteban...and I am referring to the one he advertises on TV.

I've seen the infomercial and actually own one of his cd's, but not sure about ordering it...

Anyone?

I assume no one has.

I frequent several guitar forums, and the Esteban stuff is always a big joke. The guitar is made from very cheap laminate. Check out these reviews of the acoustic guitar here:

http://www.harmony-central.com/Guita...oustic-01.html
(ratings are out of 10)

I don't know about the amp, but it's probably not better than the guitar. Plus, it's stupid have a pickup in a cheap acoustic guitar going to such tiny amp. A decent acoustic guitar's sound would be able to drown out that dinky thing. And no one wants to use distortion with an acoustic guitar.

Bottom line, there are far better choices even for a complete beginner. Stay away ...

I wish I would have read this...before I placed an order. I played a guitar years and years ago (it would be more accurate to say I played at playing a guitar)...so I pretty much took Esteban's infomercial as being a good beginners guitar. Although there were a few decent reviews...overall it sounds like it is proabably a piece of junk. I especially do not like the reviews that complained about the strings being so high off the neck (bleeding fingers etc.)...because I know that it can damage your fingers pretty severely...at least untill your fingers become toughened up. I ordered it off of the site...and it does have a thirty day money back for any reason...so it sounds like something I will be returning.

Sorry. I posted as soon as I read your thread. You never know. The quality probably varies, and you may get a decent beginner guitar. "High strings" isn't usually hard to fix. It may require some adjusting of the nut (if that guitar has one), and filing of the bridge piece. The problem is you don't wanna pay a luthier very much to do it!
