Do you think outsourcing can be fatal for US economy?

In the short run outsourcing is a good alternative for every business. Cheaper work at the price of quality but big businessman don't care about that, they want more money in the pockets.

But in the long run, I think it can prove to be fatal. The people in India / Asia you think are sheep and work for 2 cents, in the future might become smart businessman also and once they figure out their market value, they'll educate their children and open outsourcing companies on their own, like 1 outsourcing company per family, (you know they have at least 5 kids) ... so these small outsourcing cells can take YOUR kids jobs in the future!

:)

Discuss!

yes for sure. 3rd world countries like china been poor for way too many years now they got net access they want peice of the pie, they will work 24 hours a day to support there family and will work for far less than usa as cost are much cheaper.

no point paying usa peeps 2k for a job that costs 200 usd outside.

microsoft, dell all do it as it makes sense.

Its not a good thing. In the past 10 years alot of manufacturing has gone to asian countries. That means the American worker needs to be either more skilled or more educated to make a living.

usa is tricky though, they impose tax on electrical goods coming in now, making the cost of electrical goods from asian same price.

it does make perfect sense though, as i understand you guys cant work for 300 usd a month like chinese can.

i know its had effect on ebay already

are you insinuating that while they are teaching their kids about business we'll just let our own kids not learn anything. man its relative. while youre at it, teach your kids the secret of the trade too. that's why he wont have to rely everything to those future generations of outsourcers

true true, knowledge is power.

(The following is my personal opinion.)

No.

The reason being, I believe that in the not so distant future the internet will have transformed the world into a global economy that is on a more level playing field. I really can't beleive it hasn't happened yet.

For instance, someone starts an outsourcing company for adult designs. 1 out of X number of designers they hire is going to see how he can make more money by working for himself and start doing their own thing. Said designer will then make more money / have more money to spend.

Because the internet isn't bordered by cities, states, countries, or continents everyone that can get online is on a level playing field aside from the difference in internet costs. A designer in a country that averages $200 a month salary can offer design work to the same customers a US based designer can reach.

Of course we will see a ton of underselling etc. going on but this should average out over time. The more money that flows into the "poor" countries is more money that will get spent there. As those countries start seeing more and more money the cost of living will go up. Average salaries, amount of spending per household, etc will all start to rise. Then those $200 a month employees will start demanding more so it will have a reverse effect until everyone is charging the same for a particular product / service.

I typed this in a rush but you get the drift. The internet will completely change the world if nukes don't send everything back to the stone age. While it may hurt the bottom line of some today it will come back around eventually. What I would suggest to designers is harnessing the cheap labor while it's still available and using it to make your own profit. Most people just think in a straight line though so not everyone will go that route.

The amount of money demanded by skilled labor vs their work output is pathetic. Has anyone ever wondered why so many jobs are outsourced to begin with? How would you like your whole operation to shut down for an indefinate amount of time because the labor union demands rediculously retarded pay for the lazy ass employees they represent.

High prices are a product of our own stupidity.

I agree.

My outsourced employees do a kick ass job for $800 a month

The same employees in the US/Canada/Europe would probably cost me $3000 a month

We have a GMC manufacturing plant here that makes certain lines of their trucks.

Their floor sweeper makes some rediculous amount of money because of the union. A girl I know was some type of manager there making $25 an hour. Her job consisted of sitting on her ass doing fuck all, and I don't just mean it was an easy job. I mean she could watch TV, eat, whatever and had absolutely no responsibilities she was required to do. Crock of shit I have to pay 20k for a cheap car because of that.
