How much do you love your dog?

Have you ever had your pet dog or cat react really negatively to your new girl or boyfriend? What do you do? Keep them both and hope they learn to get along, or lose one of them? And if so, which one do you get rid of?

Just a thought for the day.

Pipecrew 09-12-2004 07:18 PM

Alot, we drive her around in a limo

If I had to choose between a new girl or my dog, the dog stays.

LadyMischief 09-12-2004 07:20 PM

Generally animals have pretty good instincts about people... if my animals reacted very strongly in a negative way to anyone, I'd be very leery... I've come to trust the finely honed instinct of tens of thousands of years of evolution and survival instinct over what most humans have to offer.. Too many frauds out there.

If Oscar runs away and hides ,then it's time to dump her

Both dogs stay.

railz 09-12-2004 07:26 PM

Nope. My white female cat used to react very negatively towards my ex every time she went out the door. I never understood why, until I found out she'd been cheating on me for seven months.

Winter knew all along and she was trying to tell me.

BitterPen 09-12-2004 07:28 PM

Here are my puppies... This was taken about 3 months ago when they were 6-8 weeks. The furry one is Malcolm and the spotted one is Angus. You'd never guess they were brothers... Chihuahua Yorkie mixed.

They've never met a human they don't like...

railz 09-12-2004 07:29 PM

korzon 09-12-2004 07:45 PM

I think my ex was doing the same to my cat :(

skyechase 09-12-2004 08:11 PM

Well there are a couple things to consider:

First, has your dog acted this way before around other guys you dated? It could be jealously, however if your dog hasn't acted strangely around other men then I'd say something is wrong with your man or either you two are very close and he/she is feeling left out of the relation? Just thoughts.

Dogs/Cats/Animals are like kids and changes in their lives is shown in their personality. I'd try to see how they act together and put them in comfortable terms with one another. I mean, I wouldn't give up my pet for anything because if the two didn't get along well something has got to be wrong with the guy.

You pooch dog will always be around. He/She will always love you on good and bad days. Be there with a tail wagging when you come home late. Never talk back to you. Never steal your covers. Give you undevoted love for life. :)

VirtuMike 09-12-2004 08:25 PM

Don't worry about it Elli, your dog is gonna love me.

Cute Yorkie.

SleazyDream 09-12-2004 10:35 PM

my dog comes before EVERYONE, he loves me unconditionally and trusts his life to me.

swoop 09-12-2004 10:38 PM

LOOOVE my dog. Got one from my mom, she breeds Wheaten Terriers. Very outgoing type of dogs, and very loving.

rollinthunder 09-12-2004 10:42 PM

I was out for a walk the other day with this new broad and had to tie my shoe so I handed her the leash and the dog looked back at me with the strangest look, she was all vexed, so I knew that was it, took the bitch back home threw it to her one more time then told her that shes not my type.

Of course the dog stays, its a no brainer. :Graucho

Sassy Girl 09-12-2004 10:43 PM

My dog comes first, no matter what.

KRL 09-12-2004 10:44 PM

My dog is trained to give his life to protect mine, and I would gladly give my life to protect him.

I think that's about as tight a bond as two souls can share together.

:)

BrainDead 09-13-2004 12:34 AM

zvik 09-13-2004 02:03 AM

dog = family.
you can't trade your family.

i once saw a show on discovery channel about that issue, and in 100% of the cases they won't learn to get along.

abyss_al 09-13-2004 02:11 AM

i'd dump the chick.... my dog will always be loyal to me... and she'll come first in that type of situation :2 cents:

i would probably give it a shot though..see what happens... but the person has to try

jewcash 09-13-2004 02:37 AM

my dog cost me over 1500.00 at the vet tonight

BrainDead 09-13-2004 03:01 AM

^ yaeh jewcash... thats the only thing that's similar with gfs and pets... they cost a pretty dollar. but hey i owe my pets loyalty... and oftentimes its too hard to find that in a partner

Oh wow! I hope your dog is ok! You can get health insurance for dogs now, you know.

I'm glad you guys think the same way I do. Basically my dog has hated my man and he hated her back ever since we got the dog, but she loves everyone else. It's been an interesting situation.

jewcash 09-13-2004 11:19 AM

you are soooo right

seeric 09-13-2004 11:21 AM
