I hate IKEA

You buy things there and then you have to do everything by yourself in your home. And I mean everything. That suck ass when you don't like to do things manually. When you buy a bed, you surely can just pay the IKEA employees and they will do it for you. But when you buy small things, you won't ask them for it.... So you have to do it by yourself.

Fuckers :BangBang:

I think I need some :glugglug

Oh and before someone says dont buy there..well, I don't need expensive furniture for my current house. And I go there because they simply have the biggest choice there and everything in one place and this saves time.

buddyjuf 09-12-2004 01:28 PM

I love walking through that store, home furniture is something I am fond of :thumbsup

bluff 09-12-2004 01:29 PM

I like 'em, and I'm not bad at constructing such stuff :winkwink:

pxxx 09-12-2004 01:29 PM

Don't forget to add that everything from that store always ends up breaking.

Project-Shadow 09-12-2004 01:29 PM

I could live in Ikea. :1orglaugh

media 09-12-2004 01:29 PM

I love IKEA, one thing I miss greatly about living in the bay area... I wish they would build one here..

JakeR 09-12-2004 01:30 PM

ikea is great if one was to move into a dorm room or something, but for a normal house thier furniture is true crap

DimeStoreNovel 09-12-2004 01:31 PM

Its made cheap, and sold cheap.. yoou usually get your moneys worth out of what you buy though. :2 cents:

You want furniture that will last forever.. get some stuff made out of oak. Of course it'll cost about 10x as much. :thumbsup

bad_girl 09-12-2004 01:54 PM

The problem with ikea is that you buy more shit than you need. Everytime I go there, I plan to buy one item, I come out with 20..

No he is not.

The founder of ikea gave all his shares away a few years ago, to a fund which now owns Ikea. He does not own it himself anymore, and has almost no shares, if even any.

CET 09-12-2004 02:01 PM

I kinda like putting my own stuff together, it gives me a chance to use my tools! *grunt grunt*

JustinF 09-12-2004 02:06 PM

If you don't know how to build anything, you can pay them to build them for you :thumbsup

...

Actually their markup is quite high, making Ikea's founder the world's richest man. It costs them nothing to make that laminate crap. Ikea could probably sell pressed turds in between ultra thin sheets of wood laminate ... maybe they already do.

sirrobin 09-12-2004 03:42 PM

The time spent is selecting, buying, transport and assembly is waaaay too much.
Id rather buy froma real store :2 cents:

sickkittens 09-12-2004 03:44 PM

Do they have alot more stuff in their stores vs. online?

quiet 09-12-2004 03:46 PM

ikea was cool when i was in Uni, and my first few years after. the last thing i ever bought there was a king size bed. took me 8 hours to assemble it. would never shop there now...

Ingvar Kamprad, the founder of Ikea, is "only" the worlds 14th richest person.

Not bad for a former Nazi...

untitled 09-12-2004 03:50 PM

ikea is great! the one i live near is always packed with hot chicks, i was amazed at all the hot girls browsing furniture!

beemk 09-12-2004 03:55 PM

alexg 09-12-2004 04:02 PM

yeah they also sell everything in ultra small boxes because it's all in small pieces.

I hear you can buy a full kitchen there in a match box

dude, he ownes the fund.......IKEA has never had any stocks, and they have never been on the stock market.......I read in the biggest swedish newspaper a few weeks ago that he is now the worls richest, he went past Bill cause the USD took a down flip.....

Horny Dude 09-12-2004 04:09 PM

I can't stand putting anything together from them!! True pain in the ass. It would be allright if they would just put some text in there kind of give you a hint, but it is all drawings and they are half ass at best. Was putting together a dresser and the picture showed a screw which looked like nothing I had, took me an hour to figure out the screw was gold color and not black. Easily could have been better had they said that in the instructions!

That's what I am talking about :(

And I hate such manual work in general :warning

Basic_man 09-12-2004 04:23 PM

i dont like it all the people there is crazy!

Jace 09-12-2004 04:31 PM

you are a fucking lazy bastard....everything I have bought from there takes less than 1 hour to put together....and that is their whole philosophy....put it together yourself

on every brochure, catalog and on the site is says

Quote:

Because most items are packed flat, you can get them home easily, and assemble them yourself. This means we don't charge you for things you can easily do on your own. So together we save money...for a better everyday life.
and for those saying their shit is crap, you not buying the right shit....if you spend $100 on a dresser, you will get your $100 worth....you get what you pay for

Ikea has some nice top of the line shit for very affordable prices, you just have to be willing to spend the extra cash your mommy's gave you....

Ingvar Kamprad is NOT the worlds richest person. My wife works for Ikea, and knows him personally. He is a fucking amazing businessman (Ikea is cleverly divided up amongst multiple companies in a way that guarantees success no matter what happens in the future, short of this planet being destroyed) and extremely rich, but he isn't yet the worlds richest person.

Yeah there are some very lazy people on this board :( Either they are lazy or too stupid to follow the 3 page manual :1orglaugh

How does having to put the shit together yourself save you time?

And before someone says that IKEA merchandise isn't shit, IT IS. You should know where they source that stuff from, you'd never buy it if it was sold in another store...

Paul Markham 09-12-2004 09:40 PM

I some times think our studio looks like the IKEA showroom. :1orglaugh

IKEA is perfect "first furniture" for your place. The office here is all IKEA tables, bookcases and shelves.

I love the AS IS department at IKEA, many items are 50% off that are in perfect condition.

pushpills 09-12-2004 09:51 PM

stuff is ugly garbage.

if you want to look like a poor piece of shit, buy ikea and show it off to your friends!

IKEA is all particle board furniture from what I could see. You bump a corner and that stuff breaks apart.
