what are those damn things called?
remember when you were younger cracker jacks used to give you those small little images that used to change pics when you tilted them?
So one angle you'd see a sad face, and you'd tilt it and you'd see a happy face. What the fuck are those things called? Tool did their CD cover that way for Aenema. |
Holographic ?

They weren't as complicated as holographs. Everyone used to look at them twice then just throw them in the trash.. remember? |
Yeah it uses the same principal as a fresnel lens but I can not remember what it is called. There are two images that are super imposed on each other but there are white spaces in them the same width as the opaque section of the overlying lens. When you tilt it shows you the part of the picture that is not obscured by the lines.

But since this is for you, I rattled my brain and out came Magic motion fun cards.
Correct term is lenticulars. Magic Motion is a Trademark of the Optigraphics Corporation. Lenticular technology was used in Cracker Jack prizes from the 1950s to Present. |
LENTICULAR!!! That's what it's called!! Damn. I forgot! LOL

I had a box a year or so ago, I was all excited to get one or a fuzzy sticker or a magnifying lense, I was very disapointed. Can not remember what it was that was in there but i do remember feeling old when the first thing out of my mouth was "Damn they don't make them like they used to"

the reason I ask is.. We were at a halloween store earlier today and saw some old victorian portraits that were lenticular they were pretty creepy. I want some for my office.
They looked like old victorian portraits then slowly morphed into zombie like features.. pretty cool. not cheesy like the cracker jacks box stuff I remember. |

There is a store on melrose blvd in Hollywood called Necromance.
They sell some of those lenticular images. But the cool thing is the cards are the portraits from The Haunted Mansion in disneyland. |
