I helped a homeless dude out tonight

Well I was out earlier tonight having a smoke outside of a Wendy's/Tim Hortons establishment when this homeless dude comes up to us and asks for spare change. I didn't give him any cash because I figured if he spent it on booze/drugs i wouldn't really be helping him. I bought the guy a nice meal at Wendy's. You should have seen the look on his face. He said no one had ever been that nice to him. He said most people just toss some change and tell him to get lost.

This is just a reminder for everyone on GFY to lend a helping hand to your fellow citizen. Share the wealth. Not only will you be helping someone else, but you'll feel better about yourself knowing that you've made a positive difference in someone else's life and helping them not give up hope.

Have a good night!

Me and my buddies did something similar last summer in South Central. Guy was begging for change for a burger, huge concert was just let out so tons of people were around. We were walking towards a restaurant anyway so we took him with. Bought him and his lady friend a couple tacos and drinks.

Spent an hour or so with the guy. Was an interesting character to say the least. Very gracious.

When I stopped in it was around midnight, so of course not. I was a little shocked to see Brad Shaw running the late shift though.

Actually now that i think about it yes.. Homer rules..

I liked the hyper global megla mart one too where b gates roughs his company up.

I saw this news story in pheonix about this homeless guy vet that was always on the street and they wanted to help him out , and it turned out the guy never was in the service in any capacity , was never injured and owned a 1/4 million dollar home.

remember to always make sure a homeless person is real. There was some guy on tv that has a bunch of animated real dolls working for him :1orglaugh

zazzouche 09-11-2004 10:35 PM

cool dude!

pxxx 09-11-2004 10:38 PM

Thats was very unselfish of you. Its better to spend that money buying him food than to waste it on something else that is not important.

From the story SmutGiant wrote, sounds legit to me. He wasn't pissed off he didn't get any coin. I remember reading a story when someone offered a homeless dude a subway and he just spat at him.

It's great to help people, but you just never know who really needs the help and whos just trying to hustle you for cash.

Here, have a dollar,
in fact no brotherman here, have two
Two dollars means a snack for me,
but it means a big deal to you
Be strong, serve God only,
know that if you do, beautiful heaven awaits
That's the poem I wrote for the first time
I saw a man with no clothes, no money, no plate
Mr.Wendal, that's his name,
no one ever knew his name cause he's a no-one
Never thought twice about spending on a ol' bum,
until I had the chance to really get to know one
Now that I know him, to give him money isn't charity
He gives me some knowledge, I buy him some shoes
And to think blacks spend all that money on big colleges,
still most of y'all come out confused
