How to filter out the sound from a song to get vocals only?
Any ideas how to do that with an mp3?

GoldWave, a free audio editor, have this feature.

You're not likely to get a clean vocal track seperated out from of a heavy music mix, but you could try using EQ to cut out all frequencies that are above/below the range of the voice. That would clear the vocals up a bit, but other instruments will (probably) still be overlaping those freq's.
IIRC there is also software that attempts to do this another way, by recording a 'pattern' of the music and then removing that pattern from the mix - I don't believe that works perfectly either tho. |
Just installed it, going to fiddle with it, thanks

Buy a Kareoke CD with the track you want on it, assuming it's a semi-popular song.

Maybe I didnt explain it well enough in the topic and in my post, I want to extract the voice from a song, so I can save the vocal track from an mp3..
