100 years ago it was quite normal for 12-13 year old girls to get married.. In fact, it was ok until this century pretty much.. why? Because people didn't live as long so they had to start earlier... might sound sickening, but are you going to scream "pedo" about your own ancestors? I agree that kids in this day and age don't need to do that, and it's to their benifit to wait until they are truly mature to start dating/marriage/sex etc, however remember your roots before you condemn people for that kind of thing.. especially considering it was hundreds if not thousands of years ago. The average life span then was 50 years or so. When would you have started a family then? It's easy to scream that they were child molestors, but honestly, they were ensuring their survival...

Not the point. Muhammad was suposedly the "Prophet of God" and his behaviour was an example of what was acceptable for all men for all time. So now, due to his paedophilic tendencies (because that's what they were) we find that girls as young as nine are taken as "wives" accross Arabia, North Asia and East/ North Africa.

Well for example, concerning the morality surrounding sex with girls, it is known that when girls begin their periods, at whatever age, they are still not physically or mentally able to cope safely with childbirth, and haven't been able throughout history. They need to grow into adults before it is safe for them to bear children.

Muhammad, being the final and most perfect prophet of god, should have been aware of this. So that leaves two options: either he WAS acting under god's direction in which case that makes god evil, or he wasn't a prophet.

In this country (UK), the legal age of consent for girls is 16. It has been found through trial and error that this age avoids the problems which girls have when having children at a younger age. Most British morality is based on trial and error, unlike Islamic morality which is based on dogma from the year 622. That is how I know that the morality in my country is better than in theirs, in general. And it shows, too, as the society in my country is far more advanced than that of, say, Yemen.

every believer in a religion interprets that religion "for their own means". everyone takes what they need from it and discards or ignores that which they don't. they might use it to kill, explain life, explain death or to justify something simple and harmless. either way, religion is a tool.... nothing more.
