So i get a call from my friend who works for F.E.M.A

She was telling me to be sure to evacuate and head far north into Georgia as possible. They are prediciing mass casualties.

So we talk about the hurricane that just hit us a few weeks ago. I bring up about the death numbers in the last hurricane that hit. She told me they did not release the true number of deaths from the last storm. She said they ordered 59 body bags for just one trailer park in Punta Gorda alone. But on the news they said 29 deaths total. she said the death toll was over 170 but they did not want to cause mass hysteria with people knowing Ivan is heading are way.

So for all you who think you will brave it out think about the damage this storm can cause, be safe and use your heads on this one...

It won't put a dent in my 1/8th inch plywood I have on my windows!!!

On a serious note, living on the water, Ivan has me pretty scared. I just got back from the grocer and all canned foods were pretty much sold out. It look like the place got looted!

I know man pubilx and lowes are completly empty on all of the hurricane supplies..We have a condo on the water as well in clearwater. If the storm hits us we belive it will be destroyed:(

I'm pretty sure my family is taking a roadtrip to TN, to Tala's town...any other Ivan refugees are welcome to carpool with us, and Tala has been most generous with her extra space. (I'm staying in a hotel b/c my family is massive, lmao.).

VeriSexy 09-10-2004 03:10 PM

Wow, good time to make lot's of money :glugglug

Stop building your homes in areas that continually get destroyed by mother nature, fucking simple solution!

NaughtyAlysha 09-10-2004 03:11 PM

Our home is inland a bit, but our office/studio is closer to the water. If one gets hit hard, hopefully the other is ok so we can just stay there.

I hear ya...I live in a 5 year old mobile home in Weeki Wachee/Brooksville, and I've had that knot in my belly since Charley telling me that something very bad is about to happen.

Not that easy for us...we have four kids to feed and this is where we grew up. All our family is here, at least the ones we are closest with. In 25 years here in Tampa Bay area, this has never happened...we've never had one hit, much less three in a month.

It's all Tala, I can't take any credit, lol. Travel safe! We're leaving Sunday night, I believe. My SIL has to work Monday; I keep trying to get her to call out, but she won't, and they are planning on leaving Monday around 7pm. I'm worried-I think that is too late...traffic is going to be hellacious, and if they get stuck somewhere, it could be trouble.

She is absolutely correct. Further, they knew of the number within 24 hours of the storm coming through that area. I know people who were right there and saw the bodies being loaded into the trucks. Sad sad stuff.

I was able to get a full tank at 5:30 this morning, but they've started rationing gas in my area now. I'm thinking about getting a couple of gas cans filled wherever I can.

dood if thats true, that is FUCKED UP. people rely on the news & govt organizations to INFORM the public about what is going on so that we can make informed decisions. if people knew there were 170 deaths they might take this shit more seriously, instead of just blowing it off...

how is that even legal? for FEMA to outright LIE to the public.

too bad i dont know your source, i'd be calling the media right now & exposing them for being assholes.
