1649 euros over here, from October. The 10D dropped a good 350 euros in price already.

you know what the sad thing is... all the canon cameras from the rebel and above have the same board inside... difference being the restrictions its been programmed to do.... so this guy in i believe it was croatia found this out and cracked the code... now you can d/l the file, upload it to the comp flash card, load it into the camera, and the camera automatically updates, thinking its an update..... and boom.... you have a camera with all the features all the high end canons have :thumbsup

What's the difference between that and content theft?

I think I'll pass.

There's a whole diffrence in build quility between the Rebel and the 20D, diffrent CMOS sensor, no fast USB connection etc.
The hardware IS diffrent.

I want one, but ehh :2 cents: :2 cents:

Actually, I believe cracking the thing is fully legal. It just voids the warranty.

You mean a good camera doesn't make a good photographer...

I've got the Minolta DiMage 7Hi, I can use it on it's limits, but it's not a professional camera. The 20D is a nice upgrade :)

my senior photography class was strictly based on only using disposable cameras.

using the eye to capture a moment with natural lighting is 100 times better than using an expensive camera with all the settings:thumbsup

If we are talking about lightning and composition I still have a lot to learn and I totally agree with you. But if we are talking about sharpness, color and noise, please gimmy a good camera :)
I like Slastyonoff's pictures a lot (for example domai.com, I was a member of that site but besides his pictures it was a bit of a disappointment...)

Slastyonoff has some great work.... he tends to underexpose alot of his work, to give it that brightness.... i still prefer film over digital, specially when it comes to artistic shots... and when i shoot black and white, i like to develop my own film and pictures.:thumbsup

KRL, you still haven't purchased your dSLR? :) First the 300D, then the D70, now you've got your sights on the 20D... :Graucho

I started with a 300D but I'm taking a big leap up to a 1Ds soon (11MP full frame)

abyss_al: the 300D and 10D do not have identical hardware. For example, the 10D has a larger frame buffer. The software hack enables some dormant code shared with the 10D. Installing the hack does not make your 300D a 10D - the latter still has better build quality, better mirror damping, extra physical controls etc...

It's not available anywhere I have looked yet. As soon as it is I am trading up my 10D.

The buzz around the 20D is amazing. It has a higher resolution and lower noise.

I'm curious whether you're upgrading for a good reason, or you just like to have the l8st and gr8st? :)

Higher res + lower noise in the same size sensor package (1.6X) is definitely an impressive feat. To increase the resolution you have to pack more (smaller) sensor sites into the same area; smaller sites are generally noisier.
