A handful of Chechens hold off the entire Russian military and manage to kill 500 Russians before getting blown up.

Episode 3 isn't out yet, but to my knowledge the Jedi didn't kill children.

Thats a poor analogy. A Jedi student goes through formal training and is then considered to be a Jedi. The new Jedi is then assigned to be a Padawan to an experienced Jedi, and this relationship continues until the Master feels his Padawan is fully trained. Anakin achieved Jedi status the moment he became Padawan to Obi Wan.

He was a padawan, which is not a jedi. Merely a student. But ya chechyns are evil.

Jedi ranks:

- Padawan
- Knight
- Master

So he was basically an intern. His rogue actions cannot possibly reflect on the tens of thousands of wise, established Jedi knights and masters.
