On the eve of the 3rd anniversary of the World Trade Center terrorism, what do you think has changed?

Bin Laden is still at large. He cannot be found.
The Republicans would have us believe that Iraq had something to do with it.

The world is still a fucked up place.

Zerof8 09-10-2004 12:04 PM

The world will always be a fucked up place:2 cents:

Krispy Kream is taking on losses, Walmart is now EVERYWHERE and now you can talk to any Verizon mobile customer for free if you are with verizon too.

I don't know about the world, but I can tell you how my life has changed....

I had a C-section at 1pm on September 11th, 2001, and I had a perfectly healthy baby girl that my husband and I named Emily. It was bittersweet....nursing her throughout the nights, watching the tragic aftermath of what happened the day she was born, and I wondered what kind of world I had brought her into. We had our second daughter last July and I'm still not sure, especially now, with our third natural disaster in four weeks looming. What I have figured out though, is that the best way to have a positive impact on the future, is to raise my kids with strong convictions and the guts to question irresponsible authority, and just as importantly, the capability to understand it when they see it. And as we all know, kids learn by example, so I'm doing my best to practice what I preach.:2 cents:

fear is being used to control the masses, nothing new i guess but its pretty bad when cheny makes a comment that the US could face another attack if it makes the wrong decision in november.

Evil Chris 09-10-2004 12:18 PM

I'll be golfing tomorrow morning early.

And yes, I will pause at around 9am and reflect on what happend three years ago.

Evil Chris 09-10-2004 12:22 PM

A&E has some stories of WTC survivors on today.

Some of the stories of the rescuers are incredible.
Those fire-fighters were amazing.

I can't imagine running UP those stairs.

Just another day to me. Its time we get over it and move on. 11,000+ civilians have been killed in Iraq in the last year alone. So if this is connected to the war on terror as we've been told, I figure and eye for eye has about been equaled out at 4 to 1. lol

4 more years!

SykkBoy 09-10-2004 12:40 PM

on September 11, 2001 SLAYER released their best album since "South Of Heaven" in "God Hates Us All" How ironic that an album named that was released on a day when people decided to shout "God Bless America" from the rooftops....and a songs called "God Send Death", "Payback", "War Zone" and "Cast Down" seemed quite prophetic

hmm, maybe Kerry King is a modern day prophet of sorts....

like in this verse from the song "Disciple"

Pessimist, Terrorist targeting the next mark
Global chaos feeding on hysteria
Cut throat, slit your wrist, shoot you in the back fair game
Drug abuse, self abuse searching for the next high
Sounds a lot like hell is spreading all the time
I'm waiting for the day the whole world fucking dies

Was just reading over some news articles. I'm seeing many countries being attacked with an assortment of terrorist acts.

What has changed? The world has changed. It's becoming unsafe to go anywhere. It isn't only the United States being attacked with acts of terror. Now it's Bali, Spain, Russia...

What country is next? And what is the solution? Will World War 3 consist of an army of the countries against an army of the religions?

Now keep in mind that I developed this theory when I was Christian...now I am having Wiccan leanings...but, in any case, the short version is this:
Wal-mart is the anti-christ...you know how everybody is supposed to think the AC is so great and all, but he/it is just a catalyst for Armageddon (I'm sure I misspelled that, sorry for the grammer police, lol). Well, Wal-mart is everywhere, and it is putting a lot of smaller, and even bigger businesses out of biz. Before long, Wal-mart will monopolize all the stores-they already have clothes, groceries, housewares, vision care, nail and hair salons, photo labs and photo studios, auto centers, even McDonald's for crying out loud. If there was no store in your city but Wal-mart, you wouldn't be too bad off, assuming you aren't a name brand fiend, lol. And once Wal-mart has booted every other option out, all it would take is one asshole to freeze or limit our access to everything we need. Ya, I know, it a bit far-fetched, but let's face it, turning water into wine is a bit far-fetched, too.:1orglaugh

My other theory was that the AC was technology...Why? Divide and conquer...you don't even have to leave your house to grocery shop anymore. You can work from home, play from home, and go to school from home. We have machines that do everything from entertain us to open our cans. Every time I see a new gadget I feel guilty for how lazy our society is.

leg4 09-10-2004 01:33 PM

I think everyone needs to watch the original video footage from that day.
Not the edited/toned down stuff that has been shown since...

But the real deal.... The crashes... The people jumpin out of windows so they wouldnt burn to death... falling 100+ stories, etc

JIHAD WATCH

What is Terror? What is Jihad?

Not sure if I agree with alot that I read on the above site, however, I do find it pretty interesting. I really think that the central point of Jihad Watch is that we are not dealing with "terrorists" rather "Jihadists". This central to understanding what these people want from us: Death or Dhimmitude.

Dhimmitude is the status that Islamic law, the Sharia, mandates for non-Muslims, primarily Jews and Christians. Dhimmis, "protected people," are free to practice their religion in a Sharia regime, but are made subject to a number of humiliating regulations designed to enforce the Qur'an's command that they "feel themselves subdued" (Sura 9:29).

I believe that even if we completly pulled out of the entire middle east, and never gave another dime to Israel, & created alternate energy sources, that the Islamic Death Cult baby killers would still attack us unmercifully. They love the idea of dying & killing for Allah, more than they respect living life.

funny you mention this Chris... Sheri and i were having lunch and we heard Billy Joel's "We didn't start the fire" from 1989

it made us think that much of what he mentions in that song is still plaguing the world today

it's pretty sad that not much has changed in 15 yeards, let alone 3...

robfantasy 09-10-2004 03:32 PM

its a day for everyone to remember it could be your last day, dont forget to tell people you care about how you really feel and mend broken bonds because your life can be flipped totally upside down at any time

well actually nothing has changed, ok Saddam is gone, but that basically didn't solve anything (apart from the "freed" Iraq) for the world...so the never ending battle between good and evil goes to the next round. *bellring*

What has changed?

let's see. The war on terror is mostly over because Dubya got Saddam. At least, that is what he would like you to believe. Until it's time to scare you ass off not to vote for Kerry, as the man in charge, the vice preisdent pointed out the other day, a vote for kerry will lead to another terrorist attack.

You have been warned, you must vote for bush otherwise there will be more terror.

HINT: There will be more terror anyway.

What has changed in the last 3 years is that the US is more paranoid, less secure, less free, and less respected all over the world. The leaders of the free world have apaprently turned into imperialistic mopes, trying to impose freedom on people who obviously are not ready for it.

ANyway, here is a tip from a Canadian for all those Americans out there:

If you aren't registered, get out and register already. Your the dumbest shit in the world if you don't take advantage of the freedoms that have been earned for you.

When you do vote, vote democrat, vote kerry, and get the gang of thugs, morons, and bible thumping dickweeds out of power before your job and your lifestyle is affected any more than it has already.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 09-11-2004 02:09 PM

I think there is a real problem with these Jihadists...

Or Terrorists.

Its big, there is alot of them.
We are fighting an Ideology. We are defending our Ideology.

Its basically us or them.

The gloves are not off yet from both sides.

Regardless of who is the next President of the United States the bombs will continue, terrorism will continue, more people will die.

The sooner the rest of the modern world realises whats at stake the better, but for now you can count on the USA to keep killing them and beating them to the dirt.
