Everyone I know is sweating this storm in a major way--except for my buddy who is a general contractor in Tampa. He is looking at a real bonanza of work. Recently in Florida the state relaxed the rules and are allowing general contractors the ability to do roofing jobs. One man's misery is anothers happiness...

Look at this 1:45 update: "Based on satellite imagery and Jamaica radar, it appears Kingston (capital) will take a direct hit or be within the northern eyewall. Visible satellite imagery also confirms that Ivan has completed its eyewall replacement and is intensifying again. A recon. aircraft is currently on the way to measure the intensity. It is very possible that Ivan may reach 150-160mph again before hitting Jamaica. Due to the rapid increase in wind with height, the mountains along the southern coast of Jamaica will likely see sustained winds near 160 or higher as the hurricane moves through. Gust could exceed 200mph over the higher elevations. Needless to say there is going to be extreme damage if not total destruction across the island." Holy shit....Jamaica is going to be leveled. What house in the hills will be able to take 200 mph winds? Is there anyone on GFY that lives in Jamaica? |
that is just simply fucking amazing how something so massive can exist. Wow
