Is AVS dead?

I've been out of the loop re AVS, can someone post a link re the current state of that biz model?

Has it changed from Age verification to merely offering site network passes?

Sarah_Jayne 09-09-2004 06:18 PM

yes. Totally dead. Not worth you trying at all.

baddog 09-09-2004 06:23 PM

Some felt the need to change their names to AEN's but AVS has never been better if my stats are any indicator

TheSenator 09-09-2004 06:28 PM

AVS still has potential but most big AVS owners have bought there lamborghini and are riding into the sunset.

I also have been out of the loop.

For example, why did Adult Check bail out??

And why does everyone talk about AVS being in trouble?

Tempest 09-09-2004 09:10 PM

What I would like is an "AVS" where I can build my own "paysite" with my content and keep it updated etc.

Most of the "AVS"/"AEN" sites these days just seem to be general movie sites that get the webmaster to build tours for them for all the different niches.

You can do that with just about all of them. See sig.

Last I looked, most of them let in sites with 30-300 pics. I'm talking about building a site that has 1000s of pics in it for example. i.e. A system that has higher quality sites in them. There also seems to be licensing issues given most of them require you to actually host your site on their server/domain.

I've looked at what you have a couple times actually and intend on trying it out on a limited basis.

The system Shemp is using is more what I've been looking for but I haven't had a good look at it yet.

Bush - freedom of speech - faith based - NOT information based.

pimplink, you're not right with topic subject

AVS is not dead bizmodel but has some changes from earlier. More hard rules for billing (e.g. no "incest", "rape" etc. in content/desc/name). More rules for hosting (at least as I know a lot of AVS host their sites at their own hosting to match billing rules).

Tat2Jr 09-10-2004 05:20 AM

My god! i hope AVS sites aren't dead or I won't be getting some checks that I was counting on this month! ;)

That's the same as I'm looking for. I have 30k pics, want to host everything myself, want to start with AVS and convert it later to a normal paysite. :)
