Assualt Weapons ban Up Monday!!!!!

it's about god damn time.

Quote:

WASHINGTON, Sept. 8 - Despite widespread popular support, the federal law banning the sale of 19 kinds of semiautomatic assault weapons is almost certain to expire on Monday, the result of intense lobbying by the National Rifle Association and the complicated election-year politics of Washington.

exactly. the only people that give a fuck about gun laws are the law abiding citizens.

if i was gonna buy a gun to committ crimes, why would i give a fuck if the GUN i was using was illegal?

well, also in all fairness, all of the guns that they banned with that law cost upwards of 600 dollars. i doubt some poor ass faggot could even afford the pieces they banned. once again just screwing to law abiding citizen.

Please explain the reason behind Canada having over 5 times less gun murders per capita than the USA?

Canadians are pussies, they don't aim for the vital organs.

It's a whole huge complex mess that is I feel is attributed mainly to Canada's social programs, and the actions of their government to insure a quality of life for their citizens.

in america i feel alot of times that people become alientated by our government and falling deeply into debt from medicale bills, what have you. and not really seeing a way out.

so basically i feel that canada has less gun deaths than the US because of the structure of their government/society. :2 cents:

look, and i ahte to be racist. but i think that black people are a large part of the problem as well. not the people themselves, but rather the way our government has consistantly botched the handling of their civil rights, thus leading to alot of the problems with ghetto's etc... now.

congratulations, we all saw bowling for columbine.

you missed my point. what i was trying to convey is the fact that CRIMINALS are the people these laws are set up to prevent. Somehow we think that people that are going to commit crimes USING guns will abide by the laws we put in place to prevent them from getting a gun in the first place.

its rediculous really. criminals break laws. so we make laws our solution to keeping guns out of their hands. seems kinda backwards doesnt it?

"minorities" would be a better way of saying it, If you want to get a feel for "who" is causing the problems, spend the night in jail! I did my 6 hours and I was one of the only white guys there. :2 cents: :321GFY

I'm guessing partially because handguns are too much of a hassle to get here.

I don't think assault rifles would cause near as many deaths as handguns do.

We've got plenty of rifles here, but almost no one goes to the trouble of getting hand guns because they really make it a pain in the ass.

everyone acts like its going to lower the crime rate or something but you dont shoot at people with a gun that is registered in your name. You go to a firing range and pop off a couple, fuck. I believe a lot of it has to do with the fear factor and the reasons Americans buy guns.

Americans think if they have a gun they can protect themselves. When all statistics prove they are more likely to shoot themselves, their children, their children shoot someone or the gun will be used to shoot them in the event of a crime.

But they still feel safer with a gun??????????

Plus Americans own guns as a machismo effect, "I'm a man look at the size of my gun"

Canadians buy guns for sport shooting.

If you think this is BS, come up with your theories to prove you have some.

Sly_RJ 09-09-2004 10:40 PM

Sweet. Can't wait to watch the anti-gun screaming.

Paul Markham 09-09-2004 10:43 PM

It's amazing how many people here think they are Bruce Willis characters.

A criminal comes into your house and you face him with a gun.

You are thinking if I shoot him I get into a lot of trouble, he's thinking if he shoots you he gets out of a lot of trouble.

Who do you think wins?

What ever you say about otherwise the statistics prove this the case by a big margin. If yoyu want to protect your home and family, get a dog and an alarm system. Again proven by facts.

But neither a dog or alarm will prove you to be a man. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

As for criminals shooting people look at the statistics on non criminals, prior to the ashooting, shooting people. Scary.

Do you have any clue what it's like to live somewhere where you actually do NEED something for protection?

By the way, I buy guns for hunting and fun. Protection is just an added benefit.

You are dead wrong on this one. The only people that buy guns to prove their thuggishness are the little gangbanging faggots.

Edit: And if you think anyone around here is worried about getting in trouble for shooting a burglar you are nuts. As long as they die there are no problems. You can protect your home by any means necessary.

Goverment for the people, by the people and taking the money first.

Now you're being silly.

If someone you don't know is standing in your hallway the first thing you think is "oh my, I better not hurt his pretty little tootsies, I could get in trouble!" Maybe in Europe. Maybe in Canada. Maybe in Australia. But not in the United States.

If someone that we don't know is in our house in the United States, putting our families at risk to who knows what, we care very little about that persons health or the "consequences" we may face. We care about our families only. They come first.

If you don't like guns, fine, thats great. Don't get one. I know plenty of girls that have been attacked, near raped, and raped while out and about. Could a gun have made those situations worse? Absolutely. Could a gun have made those situations better? Absolutely. It's all in the holder of the gun.

I have no problems with laws requiring people to learn gun safety, background checks, etc.

I find it interesting how people that aren't into guns always think it's about a power trip or some false sense of security. Guns are a hobby to many. They're protection to many. They're interesting to many.

Guns are not bad. It's the irresponsible people using those guns that are bad.

Ah, and you don't think there was money involved the first time around?

I hear people crying about drug laws all the time. I guess when weed gets legalized I should be all upset because the government isn't working right?

wow, what else is new? if thats your arguement, theres much better laws to bitch about than this one.

the bottom line is that there are people that will take your shit if you dont do something about it.

i have a dog and an alarm system. if someone comes into my house while im home, the alarm system would obviously be turned off, thereby discrediting your theory if it "keeping you safe". my dog barks, then runs away when confronted....so he's not much use there either.

in the event someone entered my home with the intent to harm me, or take my posessions, i would gladly use a gun to defend myself and my home.

while i probably wont ever need it, if i did, id hate to be without it.

They don't protect idiots. They protect me just fine.

Yes the thugs that will drive by and spray bullets into your house for pissing them off will shoot your kids. My deer hunting neighbor will not.

I never said I needed an assault weapon for protection. But to answer your question police don't tote them around because they are too big. They do have them on hand though.

And finally, the weapons banned are no more dangerous than the ones that were allowed. Just another smokescreen by the media / government. http://www.triggerfinger.org/weblog/category/50.jsp

Charly, here's a question for you. Why do you even care what our gun laws are? Whether you can own a gun or not really means nothing to me. I simply don't care. If you grew up in a society with no guns, great! Good on you. Keep it up.

I'm certainly not going to run to every country that doesn't allow guns and tell them that their freedom is being imposed on because they can't buy guns. They obviously don't care. Good for them.

Hey, if a bunch of people start getting killed because of more assault weapons, great! We need less people anyway. Excellent population control. Now if only people would stop using condoms...

The world would be a better place if a lot of things didn't exist.

Your opinion is that if guns didn't exist the world would be a better place. My opinion is that if drugs didn't exist the world would be a better place.

Here's the difference between you and me... I'll go ahead agree with you and your gun point. But you'll never agree with me on the drug issue. And that's fine, I really don't care. Differing opinions are fine with me, but I'll never wish death upon your family because of those differing opinions.
