Yeah thats like what I have now with my cable modem well more like 6 MB down and 1 MB up.. but good luck USING it.

I go over 50 GB downloaded per month (which is around 1/6th what a T1 can transfer in a month) and they send me nasty letters.

Yup, that's what a T1 is. You have pretty nice downstream but the people in Korea and Japan are even more lucky. They have VDSL which is 100 mbps down and 50 mpbs up :banana

I wish they had VDSL here :(

In Japan your own fully dedicated 100Mbit home line for ~100$ in Korea you can get even faster lines as far as I know.

T1 is 1.54MBps not Mbit. T1 = ~10Mbit multiplexed up to 44.5Mbit (both down and up).

I've got 2Mbit up/down here and I'm happy with it.If you don't want to run servers from your own home I can't see a real need for anything faster.

No your wrong, there is not way in hell at T1 = 10mbits :1orglaugh

http://computer.howstuffworks.com/question372.htm

T1 line can carry 24 digitized voice channels, or it can carry data at a rate of 1.544 megabits per second

Your thinking T3 which is which is about that speed

acronyms:
T1 = 1.5Mbits/s
T3 = 45Mbits/s
LAN = 100Mbits/s
GIGA = 1Gbits/s

http://research.microsoft.com/sn/Her...r-2002-48.html

T1:
A term to describe the symmetrical speed at which data can be transferred. A T1 refers to speeds of 1.54 Mbps.

T3:
A term to describe the symmetrical speeds at which data can be transferred. A T3 refers to speeds of 45Mbits

>> Just curious because I have 8MBPS downstream 1MBPS upstream myself for 65 euro

that has got to be contended right ?

I mean I have 3mbps down 256kbps(sad) for £50 / month on cable but its not guaranteed 1.5mbps bandwidth like a T1

I have what he has (but another provider i guess), wich offers it with guaranteed unlimited usage (i've got that black on white). If i want to download 2,5TB with my line, i can go ahead and do so :Graucho

Most T1 lines have SLA where to guarantee uptime for the connection. This is not the case for DSL and Cable connections in your home. You can always bitch when it goes out though :winkwink:

Its a great idea. If any webmasters are interested in this in Miami we can do the same thing including loops. T1, T3, DS3 etc. Match the pricing and deliver better than your local cable company...
