Pam Anderson lends name to KFC boycott

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) -- Actress Pamela Anderson, always game to ruffle a few feathers in the name of mistreated fowl, has lent her famous face to a billboard campaign calling for a boycott of the KFC chain of chicken restaurants.

The billboards, which were created by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, feature a photo of the television star next to the words: "Boycott KFC -- Pamela Anderson."

Underneath are the words: "Live Scalding, Painful Debeaking, Crippled Chickens" and the address of a Web site attacking the fast food chain (www.kentuckyfriedcruelty.com).

The billboards were going up in Los Angeles, Dallas, Boston, San Francisco and other cities, a spokesman for PETA said Wednesday.

"KFC stands for cruelty," Anderson said in a statement. "If KFC executives treated cats or dogs the way they treat chickens, they could go to prison on felony cruelty-to-animals charges."

A spokeswoman for KFC, which is owned by Louisville, Kentucky-based Yum! Brands Inc., said the chain had had enough of attacks by PETA.

"PETA has disparaged our brand and misrepresented the truth about our responsible industry-leading animal welfare standards," Bonnie Warschauer said in a statement.

The PETA spokesman said the billboards were Anderson's idea and accurately described the fate of chickens at processing plants that supply KFC.

I saw the hidden video a few months back, there's no excuse for what those guys were doing to those chickens... smashing them up against walls, stomping them, breaking their legs and laughing as they flopped on the floor, kicking bloody carcasses into piles... No telling what wasn't caught on that tape.

The radical ones who spray or throw paint on fur coats are, but there's needs to be someone watching over what happens to our food supply and if it takes PETA to expose what was happening in these food plants it's better than it not being found out at all.:2 cents:

I am not a lefty nut, but I have to say animal cruelty does suck alot. After seeing a video of how the animals are treated that end up at KFC I have not eaten KFC for about 6-12 months and I won't eat it again for a very long time (possibly ever).
