Anyone running hosting biz on a windows server 2003?

In case, please let me know your prefered tools and applications.

Like, what app do you use for server partions for ftp access, including the setup of ftp accounts?
Email config programs,
Webstats,
Webmail etc etc etc...
All the tools and apps you use to run your hosting biz, and to service your custumers.

Anyone? Could this be my lucky day?

Oh no, not another clueless wannabe hoster. :2 cents:

whee 09-08-2004 11:40 AM

LOL..
We do host, but right now only on FreeBSD. Hell of a difference.

johndoebob 09-08-2004 11:43 AM

Well when I see this kind of question I think of somebody who wants to start hosting but doesn't have a clue about it, probably oversells big time and when something goes wrong/crashes he doesn't know what to do. :2 cents:

Wrong. This was ment as a short cut. We have to include ASP and Access database service to our custumers, but we run on FreeBSD as it is. We have just set up a brand new Windows Server 2003 for this purpose. We DO know how to host, but not on MS boxes.

Alright, look at the links I posted, all in one solutions incl. panels, most commonly used for win2k / win3k servers.

If you want to partionate your HD use Partition Magic. If you're looking for single apps and not all in one panel solutions let me know.

Anyone running a Hosting Company on Win2k/2003 should not post what software they are using as this make it easier to spot potential exploits of the servers. Just my :2 cents: .

Included in the first line:

"This was ment as a short cut"

To compare apps and ideas, to see if there were better apps than the ones I had in mind. Ok? :)

whee 09-08-2004 01:50 PM

All I have left now is an email server program. The rest of the apps we figurede out by now.
Free prefered, or at least cheap.
Anyone?

If you're using win3k you can use the system mail server.
