problems with paysite plugins...

I have members email me daily because they can't access socal streams, hustler, and webmaster central. Mostly it is socal. All of them work fine for me and most members but this is still a big problem. Does anyone know what setting can cause this? It is not a firewall, security software or privacy settings. It is something else but I am not sure what.

I came accross a setting once and I can't remember where it is but I think it might help. It allows an internet connection to act as a server. Anyone know where this is?

Do many of you get emails from members about not being able to access plugins?

probably norton antivirus man.. it blocks referring url

I always tell them to shut off norton and try it and they still tell me it does not work. Where is the referring url setting in norton?

Is it EVERY member trying to access them, or just a select few?

I suggest you send a temp pass to a few of your friends and see if THEY can access it. Using different browsers etc.

Pop-up blockers can sometimes wreak havoc too.

It is not all of them and it is not a select few. I am thinking it is a big number like 30-40% can't get in. I get tons of emails about this.

One of the things I tell them to do is shut off popup blockers. Nothing seems to work.

Shut off firewalls, shut off norton, set security to Medium or Low in IE, and tell them to take the cookies.

I'd email some of them back and get the specific specs on the browser, version and any firewalls, spyware or virus protection they're running. Then find the common denominator.

I agree with what VirtuMike just said, but if you just tell them to shut down everything, and it doesn't work, you look foolish.

Plus, alot of surfers will refuse to shut down their firewalls and antivirus programs which is probably gonna reflect in your retention.

I am getting tired of telling people to do all of that and it still does not work for them.

I can't find anything common with them. Browsers are usually newer versions. It happens on Macs and PC but Mac users almost always have problems with socal streams. I know direcway prevents access to socal streams for some reason... BUT I can access socal streams at cybererotica when using direcway. Firewalls up or down don't make a difference. Privacy set at low does not make a difference. Having norton, zonealarm and other security on or off does not make a difference.

I have tried so much for a year now and I am getting tired of getting emails every day about this. Why can't plugin providers come up with a solid way of linking? I can't be the only one that is having this many problems but because of the direcway thing I think I might be. The plugin providers can't help me so hopefully someone here can.
