Did Cheney cross the line? Vote wrong and the US will be struck again

(Sorry for abridged subject, wasn't enough space to ask the question)

Did VP Cheney cross the line when he said that the US will be struck again if Americans make the "wrong choice" in November? I think it would be interesting to compare a poll of GFYers with the current poll on MSNBC.

polish_aristocrat 09-08-2004 08:17 AM

i think he shouldn't had said that, but I am not sure in what context he said that....:2 cents:

In order for Bush to even come close to accomplishing his goals he has to take out the governments of Iran and North Korea. You up for that?

beergood 09-08-2004 08:21 AM

he definitely crossed the line. I don't like scare tactics.

I tell you this election year really sucks. I can't stand either of the candidates but I OBVIOUSLY can't vote Bush. Man man man why is Kerry the best man for the job? WHY? Its horrible.

cherrylula 09-08-2004 08:22 AM

Sounds like he is throwing a tantrum saying things like that.

Did he stomp his feet when he said it?

OK. I'm wrong. There will be democracy in the middle east and Iran and North Korea's nuclear arms race will simply vanish because Bush is re-elected.:thumbsup

Bansheelinks 09-08-2004 08:33 AM

it was great because it laid naked the Republican strategy of flat-out lying and scare-mongering.........to those that questioned if there was a Republican agenda to try and scare us in line, the answer is clear now.

What really scares me is the number of people I hear saying, "Oh we really don't need to change leadership during a war."

I guess Clinton/Gore should have started a war in their 3rd year to ensure Gore's overwhelming election.:winkwink:

what a simple child you are.

here's a leading question for you. lets see if you have the 6th grade intellect to be led.

does Iran and North Korea having nukes only threaten the US and no one else?

great point............i wonder if Cheney has the intellect to realize this? the fact is, it didn't matter who was elected........as if that would have stopped these evil ppl from pursuing their ends........and they won't be deterred now either, be it bush or kerry.........its going to be an ongoing ordeal..........Cheney knows this, so the fact that he spouted such rhethoric leads me to believe he knows what he is doing, and that is trying to scare us into line, into supporting Bush

he's a manipulative old fuck and you can't trust a word that comes out of his mouth

No, and even if Bush blows those facilities to kingdom come and installs a US approved government in those countries it will not stop the insurgency against US interests. Based on recent history, I'd be willing to bet it would grow more than exponentially. Do you really think the US can bomb the entire middle east into compliance?

You only think US foreign policy is working if you never check out other than US news sources:2 cents:

I form my opinions by reading/watching/listening to many sources (I'd say 80% or more of my newstalk listening is to hosts I fundamentally disagree with). If it's a story I'm following in the middle east I not only read US news sources, but also the reporting of those stories in the country of origin and other countries to get their view of the story. Google News is a multi-daily stop. I've always been a newshound. Prior to the internet and cable, I incorporated shortwave radio into my news gathering. Currently I have a 10' C-band dish with both a 4DTV and an mpeg FTA receiver and an unfettered horizon to horizon view of the Clarke satellite belt where I regularly watch raw newsfeeds from a multitude of countries. I'd say given the access I am lucky to have my opinion is probably more well fed from all sides before stating it than 95% of the readers of this board. As far as "kid" I am old enough to be "daddy" to probably 75% of the board:glugglug

Absolutely not, it's totally normal for a Vice President to threaten his country like that. :1orglaugh

Go back to school.

Danny_C 09-08-2004 11:23 AM

Of course he crossed the line. But then, both sides are using ridiculous fear tactics to scare people from voting for the other side. The Republicans are just doing a much better job at it.
