Lowest Nerd Point In Your life

When was it? What were you doing?

I mean were you one of those guys dressing up in costumes to play dungeons and dragons?

For me, my lowest nerd point in my life was probably being really excited about joining Royal Rangers...it's a paramlitary spinoff of the Assembly of God church...basically an even more hardcore Christian ripoff of Boy Scouts.

Spill it.

demented 09-07-2004 07:44 PM

Probably when I was in the 6th grade going to a Catholic school, and I wore my hair all spiked up with gobs of fucking hairgel.

I don't consider nerdiness a low point. I'm proud of my nerdiness. I love AD&D, computer games, science fiction and I am a die hard Trekker-girl for life! Trek4L!! :thumbsup

xNetworx 09-07-2004 09:02 PM

When I realized I knew more about building websites than most of my friends that were ACS majors in college. (I was an Econ Major). I felt smart, yet nerdy.

skyechase 09-07-2004 09:05 PM

:1orglaugh Hmmm let me think. How about when my 17 year old niece says "Your such a nerd" lol. Actually she says I'm pretty cool most of the time but just that I'm just a tech head.

Yeah, we only have one store around here and the people here are so dull. I miss Atlanta. There were LOTS of shops there to play at and the people were so great there.

Yes i played board role playing games (myneid was my first AD&D characters name)!
Yes i played role playing games on a BBS (LORD, Trade Wars)!
Yes i went to BBS meets!
Yes i was the President of the Science Fiction Club in high school for 3 years!
Yes i played magic when it first came out, even during lunch in high school in the hallways!
Yes in college my friend and i created a custom map for Doom that was a layout of our Dorm building!
Yes i carried around my laptop everywhere i went for years!

I am proud to be a geek!

Sears Salesman 09-07-2004 10:47 PM

i dont understand. why do you say lowest? should it not be highest? every nerd should be very proud of himself

Rictor 09-07-2004 10:51 PM

I stood in line for an hour to see Star Wars Episode I on opening night. In my defense, I was there with my girlfriend and a group of college friends...some one those guys were fresh out of the basement, alone, and dropped off by mom's mini-van at the door.

Marcus Aurelius 09-07-2004 10:57 PM

When I called my best friend Rick in the middle of the night and woke him up to tell him that I had just completed my rogue epic weapon quest in EVERQUEST.

His subsequent excitement also created the lowest nerd point in his life as well.

(this was years ago, have since gone on to much nerdier endeavours!!)

brizzad 09-07-2004 11:00 PM

me and my g/f get high and play mario 64 to see how fast we can get all the stars in / we alternate with the controller after every star

:1orglaugh :helpme

kush 09-07-2004 11:04 PM

I would have to say my lowest point was in high school when I was running a Star Craft clan. Had a web page and everything.

I ripped off some other clan's logo and used it as my own :1orglaugh

We were the mighty "Eagle Squadron" and I was the head Eagle :1orglaugh

I played that game so much. I was even in the top 50 worldwide competing with all the Koreans.

Does buying two boxes of Ice Age booster packs when they first came out count as being nerdy?

Holy fucking shit man. I was in that shit from age 7 all the way to about 15, not by choice, but because my mom made me. I was never really hardcore about the awards and shit, i did the minimum so that I coul dgo to the camp outs. But my buddy was really extremely hardcore in the the Royal Rangers, he was like the first person in 15 years to win the gold medal of acheivement (the highest Royal ranger award) in Indiana. He even went to national competitions and one time the 2nd in the national Ranger of the year.

Now he's a hardcore drunk and drug addict. We got really fucking drunk one night, took all his ranger shit out to the woods. We stuck some limbs in the ground and made a dummy dressed in the full Royal Ranger get up, all his awards, uniform, ect, and fucking burned that shit. Even had the authorities out there asking us if we were from the KKK burning a cross, hahahaha. We filmed the whole thing so we just told them we were independent film makers and they left us alone, hahahaha.

And remember....

A Royal Ranger is alert, clean, honest, courageous, obedient, spiritual!!

hahahahahahahha

jade_dragon 09-08-2004 12:41 AM

Usually when I get into a debate/argument on a board and the others give up because they can not disprove what I say........Or I post a tech article in a car forum about Volumetric Efficiency and its roll in more power per cubic inch/litre.

I stopped playing Magic the gathering when Visions came out, I was already mad that 5th edition had lowered the worth of all my cards but when I see newbs opening packs of cards and pulling out commons and uncommons that do insane amounts of damage and do not need other cards to set them up I said to hell with it. Still got binders full of uncommon and rare and boxes of commons in the closet. Dust them off from time to time to hand some asses out with my Stasis and Land Distruction decks with the older players.

I would play warhammer 40k more if I could stand the noisy geeks in the shops around here or cooler people could find the brain cells to actually retain the rules. They dummied this game down also to try to make it appeal to more people.

bringer 09-08-2004 12:42 AM

each passing second is the lowest point in my life

PenisFace 09-08-2004 12:46 AM

In grade 6.. someone asked if i was masterbating again.. I said, "I may jerk off alot, but im not doing it right now".

Everyone in the fucking classroom heard me say it. Worst. Day. Ever.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 09-08-2004 12:49 AM

I never left the "Nerd" stage.

I still play Magic The Gathering with my Wife and some friends on occasion

:1orglaugh

Jakke PNG 09-08-2004 12:52 AM

Hmm.. nerdy. I don't know if I've done anything really nerdy.

I did once buy some star-wars magic-the gathering rip-off cards.. never played with them though.

Aside from computer geekiness, I don't think I have other nerdy tendencies.
