2257 Question...

If I have purchased content from an overseas producer, will the new 2257 regs apply, where I have to supply model IDs and location for where it was obtained from? From what it is sounding like, content producers from outside of the U.S. will not have to comply with this law... So, does this make the content useless, or does it mean that I just don't have to supply the ID info?

I'm a bit confused with this.

We are in Australia but we will still be supplying full 2257 documentation with all content.

If a content provider wants to supply the US market - they gotta supply the "creds", else forget it.

If you live in the US, of course you have to abide by the laws there - including relevant 2257 data, irrespective of the country of origin of the content.

Other countries have "similar" and related laws. We don't even start a shoot till the ID's are sorted out. Any competent photographer knows he needs this shit else he is wasting his money and time continuing.

There should be no problem getting paperwork from any reputable source.

In other words, the source of the content is irrelevent

Webby is right and further more ID isn't just a paper - it proves the age - that's the meaning of the law. Most of non US countries have the same point of age - 18 y. o.
