Can you really be ORIGINAL on the internet?

Here's a question to guys who are 'worried' about getting their ideas exposed...

these are the guys who probably do the following

direct ach pages
intelligent dbase tgp through put marketing
using confirm pages to convert (Duh, you think its that 3L33T)
Yahoo and its many nooks and crannies
Lycos
Google.de
Google
Yahoo search
Fake flash banners with info traps
Active X auto installs (Fuck YOu!!!!)
MS Service Messenger
Direct Router Nat routing (Another FUCK YOU)
etc etc

If you do something online and it gets traffic and someone figures out how you do it just by either 1) looking at your marketing (haterz would say 'spam' but whatever) 2) reading about it 3) you tell them generally about it and they figure it out, -- you have nothing to complain about!!!! Anyone can see it. Anyone can reverse engineer it.

That's how the net works. An idea, either implemented or just talked about, can be reverse engineered and independently researched.

NOW... if you were the ONLY guy who has exclusive rights to a source of traffic or implementation (ie., you bought ad space or you're one of the partners of the site) then you can LEGITIMATELY say you've been ripped.

But... if you're just one of the thousands of traffic fishermen who thought they found a secret spot... get over it, there's tons of webmasters out there looking for the same spot and have figured it out/or will figure it out soon.

Do you think the guy who invented google spoofing algorithms is HAPPY that there's many similar implementations out there? Probably not, but now he's making more money cuz he's copying his copiers' implementations.

Do you think the guy who created the hahahahahahahahahaha scrolling banners of 1999 was pleased his shit was easy to reverse engineer? probably not, but he probably made more money switching to flash.

Here's a tip:

If you can't handle change and competition, you are in the wrong business--Get a Job where you don't have to worry about innovating and reverse engineering.

If you can handle change, then step your game up. No money is easy money, specially in this business. It will only get harder ... so let change be your friend.
