SP-2 POPUPS solution #1
Ok heres how i noticed several of the larger hitbrokers/sites are doing to get around the sp2-popup killer.
When you actually click a link you can still target a new window , so this is how you do it. lets say you have a tgp and you want a popup on your main page. You target the tgp links to a popup window then change the focus to hide the popup window, and make the tgp page change to the link requested. In order to do this fast before the user notices , you may want to first load the popup window into an iframe on the main page so when the popup is requested the files on the page are already in the cache, so when the user clicks on a link the popup is hidden almost instantly and the user wont notice it until he closes the tgp. to break it down your links will all change to href=popupwindow.html target=_blank then add a js tag to change the main page to the real url when it is clicked |
i think im having a seizure

Been doing that for awhile..still good idea :glugglug

now this is not going to work for all people , ( as the cookie might already be set )
but if you go here http://www.ebaumsworld.com/index2.shtml and click on the forum link on the left hand side , if you are using SP-2 you should notice a small popup. This is a demonstration of how it would look to the end user. |
