Another Hurricane headed our way. This one is going to be a Category 5 ;(

Hurricane Ivan is currently a Category 4 and scheduled to become a Category 5 in the next 24 hours. As of right now it is on target to hit our home on Saturday (the day after we are scheduled to arrive). I'm starting to wonder if I'm ever going to get home. :(

What a hurricane season

curracco is sounding better and better - out of the hurriacain pathway

CDSmith 09-05-2004 08:42 PM

Ivan looks pissed.

fatal attraction 09-05-2004 08:44 PM

Anyone know when it's suppose to hit Florida??? This is getting crazy!!! :(

born4porn 09-05-2004 08:45 PM

stay safe, they are coming thick and fast :warning

mynetporn 09-05-2004 08:47 PM

I feel bad for you. I would suggest you postpone your return to the islands until this passes.

If it does hit FL it should be Saturday next week.:(

Shap 09-05-2004 08:50 PM

Yeah it is scheduled to hit Nassau on Saturday. The problem with this storm is it is moving at very high speeds and it is going to be very difficult to prepare in advance as it will hit before we all know it.

One good thing is, it is scheduled to go thru Cuba and that would weaken it, those cheap cuban prostitutes can bring even the nastiest hurricanes to their knees ;)

Shap 09-05-2004 08:56 PM

I'm not superstitious and don't believe in signs or shit like that. However, last week I was watching the Hurricane path and it was scheduled to hit on my birthday (Sept 3rd). When I saw that I said screw that I'm out of here. Now the new storm that is looking to hit us is named Ivan, who happens to be my good friend and neighbour.

Not to mention, Hurricane Ivan. Doesn't that sound like an aboslute mass destruction storm? Does to me. Ivan the Terrible.

KC 09-05-2004 08:57 PM

The whole state should just move. I don't see what's so great about Florida!! Too humid & too many hurricanes!!

What a hurricane season

Move to a country where you have to pay taxes and the hurricanes may have more heart.

Patrick_Bateman 09-05-2004 09:00 PM

Ivan will knock Florida the fuck out!

CDSmith 09-05-2004 09:02 PM

Who knows? Ivan may decide to blast a path of destruction all the way up to Canada and take out Toronto.

Wouldn't that be something.

Shap 09-05-2004 09:07 PM

Hi Speakthetruth. I still prefer hurricanes over taxes :winkwink:

Despite having hurricanes Bahamas has the nicest people I've ever met in the world. I've never been anywhere where total strangers would offer you their bed and clothes off their back. The Bahamians are kind and giving people.

mb 09-05-2004 09:10 PM

Shap, are you camping out back up in Canada?

All of this is really gonna fuck up my beach vacation in Florida in a couple of weeks.

I saw 2 hurricanes when I lived in New Orleans over a 15 year span. Now, between the show hurricane (Charley) and my pending vacation hurricane (Ivan), I may see the same in a span of weeks!

crazy season!

If you draw a line for each (Charlie and Frances) the point where they cross is 15 miles south of me. Scary Shit.:helpme

CDSmith 09-05-2004 09:15 PM

One day I'm going to head down that way and talk to Shap, and see about living one one of them there taxless islands.

... in a storm-proof fortress. :D

Spunky 09-05-2004 09:16 PM

Florida sounds like a great state but I couldn't go through this all the time.. Good luck

scoreman 09-05-2004 09:29 PM

This is really abnormal hurricane season. I've been in Florida since 1977, leaving only briefly for school, and I cannot remember a year where we have had back to back to back hurricanes come knocking. I know they said this year was suppose to be busier than normal but this is crazy.

Shap, they had this article in the Miami Herald today, about how a bunch of folks holed up in the Biltmore to ride the storm out. It made me think of you and Beth :-) .

I ask this question every time a natural disaster happens such as tornados, earthquakes, vulcanic eruptions and of course hirricanes...

WHY THE FUCK DO YOU PEOPLE LIVE THERE?

You'd think people would realize "gee, maybe it's not such a good place to live after all"

Not far but if you are in Tampa then it is still about half way across the state. Maybe an hour drive or so.

Good question and I have gotten this alot from family and friends outside of FL alot lately. So here are my reasons.

Sunny weather (most of the year).
Warm (lowest temp last year was around 40 degrees F.)
No Snow.
Southern Women. (Gotta love them)
For the most part people here a friendly and have the "laid back" southern charm.

The last time a major hurricane has come through Central Fl was more than 40 years ago. If I remember correctly I think it has been cold and snowy almost every year up north. (please let me know if I am incorrect)

In the recorded history of Florida there have never been 2 major Hurricanes in a 1 month time period. We have had Tropical storms and the like but they come and go pretty quickly. Snow lasts for a long time and so does the cold.

A natural disaster can happen anywhere as well as a disaster created by people. We all choose where we are for one reason or another and deal with the problems of our choices.

One reason I just use FL.

But if I were to get blown away from my current position in FL I would not need to change my location for this nick. (unless I got blown into the gulf or ocean:winkwink: )

block 09-05-2004 10:44 PM

Damn dude that is crazy.... Going to be a lot of damage :(

NaughtyAlysha 09-05-2004 10:44 PM

Personally, I can't understand why someone would live in California. Forest fires, mud slides, earthquakes, smog, etc. I can deal with a hurricane once a decade. The hot summers, the beach, the moderate winters all make up for it.

mynetporn 09-05-2004 10:51 PM

No matter where you live you are going to have some problems.
California - earthquakes
New York - Terrorists, crowding, traffic, Cost of Living
Texas - Hurricanes, Hot Hot Hot, Takes 2 days to get out of the state
East Coast (including FL) - Hurricanes
Arizona - Dry heat and smog, lots of poisonous critters
North East and North West - Cold, Blizzards
Central US - Tornados

We just have to take the good things we like with the bad things that come along with it.
