Florida webmasters report. How hard is Frances hitting you?

If you are in Florida, give us a report. Location, what you are going through, pictures if you have them.

I am in Tampa. Just came back from lunch. So far it is still sunny. We are getting some gusty wind, but nothing to much.

Storm is moving slow.... wish it would just get over so we can get back to work.

I think Tampa's major concern is rain, its moving so slow we may get a lot of rain. Doubt we will havemuch wind issues.

MattO 09-04-2004 12:18 PM

I'm about to BBQ, but I'm in St. Pete, too, so nothing's here yet even more than Tampa.

CDSmith 09-04-2004 12:19 PM

It's only moving at 5 mph, shit... it should be hitting N Florida by October.

we are in Melbourne boarded up and have a great poker game going. Still have lights and the wind is about 60mph. No trouble yet.

The wind keeps setting off both doorbells though :)

We're just north of Orlando and so far just some occasional rain and gusty winds but it's calm out right now. I'm hoping this one won't do as much damage as Charley because that one took out about 2/3 of the trees in our yard. Gonna get lot's of rain though.

That is definitely a storm you don't want to try to drive through.. lol

So far here in Bradenton just some decent winds and rain.

Dawgy 09-04-2004 06:16 PM

im in tampa. bored out of my mind. wind & rain gusts here & there, but we havent really gotten any of the storm yet, just outter bands.

we should be having a webmaster party

mynetporn 09-04-2004 06:18 PM

Here in Osceola County it is somewhat OK. We have had a few blasts or severe rain and so on but otherwise it has not been too bad. We have had the power go off this afternoon but it is back on. The winds are quite gusty (about 30+mph sustained) 50+mph. We are under curfew since 2pm this afternoon.

Around the neighbor hood we have already had one tree fall onto a house that I know of. I am now sitting here drinking a few beers waiting to see what happens.

I hope that all other Florida webmasters have found a safe place to stay and hope this storm does not do any more damage or harm anyone.

I will be checking this board until the power goes off or the cable goes out.

Best wishes to all. Be safe.

irishfury 09-04-2004 06:21 PM

Yup should had webmaster party...My hurricane shopping was mass amounts of beer and liquir...

This is an AWESOME pic!

pornguy 09-04-2004 06:58 PM

I think that photo is actually real. Not photochoped.

We used to have a boat when we lived in Miami, and saw several storms roll in that looked a little like that. I am talking about being in Byscaine Bay, so there are islands and stuff to break it up a bit.

makefuckingmoney 09-04-2004 07:02 PM

of course its real...heck ill post a pic of the fish i caught..

holy crap! nice snap shot... :winkwink:

Kimmykim 09-04-2004 07:25 PM

I just talked to the crew holed up at Cybercat's house in Lauderdale. They've still got power, even though it goes on and off, the storm's stalled out where it sits at the moment it seems, so they're just going through rain, no rain, rain, no rain, etc right now.

Mandatory evac order is still in place until tomorrow night.

init 09-04-2004 07:32 PM

i was in st pete and they closed the damn skyway bridge and i had to go through tampa to get back home :feels-hot :feels-hot

stevo 09-04-2004 07:48 PM

The hurricane is stuck! I heard the weather guy say its going to take 12 hours for it to move just another 50 miles inland. Its going to be a long night by the coast.

Torn Rose 09-04-2004 07:59 PM

We are in Melbourne and its starting to really pick up now, we have a tree branch 30' long and about 1' thick sitting on top of Sammy4U's car and another friends truck (they are out of town and live on the beach so we moved them over here, great idea huh)

I couldn?t tell if the truck and car are damaged so I have to wait it out and find out tomorrow or so.

We lost power for a second or two 4 or 5 times so far and from what the news said most of our county is w/o power.

We went over to Dan_CamZ last night and played some poker, but this whole week has been shit and last 2 days boring as hell.

News said we will get 110 mph winds between 1AM and 3AM

Fuck... just blow away already, this should have been over by now.

Any updated news? I heard the carports and trees were blowing over near us. ICQ me! I can't sleep.

My prayers are with everyone stuck in this storm.:(

MediumPimpin 09-04-2004 08:44 PM

Not bad at all was just outside, a few small trees down that's about it :)

Whet Prod 09-04-2004 09:20 PM

Melbourne getting pretty windy now. The rain here has been minimal. The hurricane could get worse, but it is the fact that they have issued a 12 hour tornado warning that I do not like. Other then the electricity going off and on once in a while all is holding up well. I think that we have more to come though now that it has stalled. Good luck to all the other Florida people that are hanging with the house and all the other Melbourne people. Never knew there where so many of us in this area.

mcp_catman 09-04-2004 09:29 PM

Cabin Fever here in Miami, Stuck watching lame TV, very little wind, very little rain, and all my shoots cancelled for nothing... Frances is like a blind date that shows late, then she's a fugo on top of that!

stev0 09-04-2004 10:22 PM

Watching it on CNN now... west palm beach is looking pretty crazy.

Lakeland, nothing much going on here yet, just some wind and a few rain bans coming through...

Cyndalie 09-06-2004 07:08 AM

Hi MikeAI,
We've got trees down, smashed on cars, everthing is closed. One concrete light pole smashed down on a mustang that was driving down the road. You can't buy bread, ice, milk, etc anywhere. Our power grid held up but we were one of the few lucky neighborhoods. Cable's been out for 2 days. DSL held up tho.

I took about an hour of video over teh 2 day period of the storm. Will edit and get it online soon.
