Fletch XXX 09-04-2004 08:43 AM

tabbed does in fact, rizule.

Jakke PNG 09-04-2004 08:45 AM

I've had firefox for some time, but I still can't do it fluently. :(

Paparazzi 09-04-2004 08:46 AM

Agree!
I always end up with about 10 tabs. It was a pain in the ass when I used ie before :)

arg 09-04-2004 08:49 AM

Maybe I just need to get used to it more, but I prefer multiple windows for browsing. I like that I can see bits of other browser windows beneath the currently active window, as I can find what I want faster if I see it than by reading the tab titles, and if I want to read window, I can either read them on the XP tax bar, or alt-tab through my current active tasks.

Why do you like tabbed browsing so much? I've read other people say they like it, and I'm not sure if I'm missing some advantage, but it seems to me that it's not all that different.

dready 09-04-2004 08:51 AM

I could not live without it.

quiet 09-04-2004 08:52 AM

faster than rotating through windows. you can open or close the tabs at will, and see the titles of each page all at once. no need to open new windows, just open a new tab. my bookmarks bar (single links and folders) opens automatically into tabs if i want, loading however many different pages i have under a single bookmark folder.

i use safari (the mac browser)...

Groove 09-04-2004 08:52 AM

Yep, I love it. :thumbsup

I used to open multiple IE browsers, but that chewed system resources.

Mozilla's tabbed browsing is much better :glugglug

It's just whatever you're used to. This is simply something new for you now. It's just tabs on the top instead of the bottom. But sooner or later you will return to normal surfing since it's faster.

I did it years ago when i was doing useless stuff like installing and using linux instead of windows. Lol what was I thinking, anyway i always felt like it was so slow, moving your mouse up is annoying, im lazy with puters hehe.

phonephucker 09-04-2004 09:15 AM

no way you cant beat it.

i went and used IE there last week and i realised how fuckin crap it is

mozilla to the end

Check out Avant Browser for IE. It's a shell around IE that provides tabs and a bunch of other cool functions. Very cool, and has just become somewhat stable with the latest release.

Combine Avant Browser with RoboForm and you have some serious time saving tools.

One problem - It doesn't support the Alexa tool bar. Google is supported, but I've founf the page rank indicator needs to be refreshed in new windows. Pretty buggy.

For the MS Haters: yes - you can get multiple viruses and trojans much more quickly now

I don't know where I would be without it. It proboboly doubles my productivity.
I have tried many before, but I always come back to CrazyBrowser. It's simple, fast, and just amazing.

Firefox AND Safari rock!!! :thumbsup

Got a Firefox question though: does anyone know how to automatically alphabetize Bookmarks? It doesn't have the "Sort By Name" feature like in IE =(

xclusive 09-04-2004 10:36 AM

I prefer to have multiple windows of firefox open and have each window with it's own set of tabbed windows open it helps me keep things organized...

Trixie 09-04-2004 10:45 AM

Are there keyboard shortcuts to move quickly between tabs without using your mouse?

If not, I'll stick to opening new browser windows and using alt+tab to toggle between open windows. I avoid using a mouse at all costs -- keyboard shortcuts are so much easier on the hands and faster.

fuzebox 09-04-2004 11:03 AM

Been using it since the day it was introduced into Mozilla...

Using a non-tabbed browser feels so clumsy. I used to just open everything in new windows... I'm always lost when I use IE and the middle mouse button doesn't do anything :(

WiredGuy 09-04-2004 11:10 AM

Which browser are you using Quiet?

Netscape rocks, not turning back :glugglug

More Booze 09-04-2004 11:43 AM

Like 98% of the people in this thread said, tabbed browsing rocks, no way im changing to a single-window browser.

Yeah, there are - and it's not much more different than what you're used to:

Next: <CTRL>+<TAB>
Previous: <CTRL>+<SHIFT>+<TAB>

Really speeds you up :winkwink: :thumbsup

Gotta agree, totally! :thumbsup

Tried Mozilla a while but actually like Netscape (v7,2) more,
even though there really aren't many differences between them.

I use IE2 and it has shortcuts. I can't surf without tabs, now.

true, both Firefox and Netscape are both design using the Mozilla technology so there's little difference.

finally we can say IE sucks even with the release of SP2. Tab browsing is one of the best feature such browser can offer nowadays.

fuzebox 09-04-2004 01:15 PM

You guys know that in Firefox/Mozilla if you middle-click on a link it automatically opens in a new tab, right?

I'm continuously shocked how many people don't know this, and always right click and select "open in new tab", yet go on about tabbed browsing :1orglaugh

Kalifornia 09-04-2004 01:17 PM

I agree
