Any of the companies who've skinned GFY willing to share results?

I'm curious to know if they've seen a return on their investment.

Obviously it still continues to happen, so it must be worth it.... but I'd like to hear it from the horses mouth... so to speak.

Anyone who's skinned the board... are you happy with the results? Was it worth it?

i asked someone who runs a company that skinned gfy if it was worth it not to long ago

hes response was "FUCK NO" im not going to mention who it was, or what company, but thats what was said.

I really think skinning GFY should be used to get eyeballs to start recognizing your brand, and then at trade shows people will feel more likely feel familiar and go over and say hey and then maybe check out the program.

I have to agree...

I think there are better ways to spend $35k and actually hit an ROI but if you're after "branding" then it could be worth it.

Yep good for getting your new company's name out there, however it's pricey. Not for your average start up company ;)

yea, from a marketing perspective it is more a branding tool than a direct response tool. For the cash programs it adds familiarity to the brand which makes webmasters feel more comfortable that the program is successful and that they will get paid.

If you pay all that money to skin, and don't follow it up with persistant advertising in multiple mediums over a period of time both before the skin and after, then you'll miss the boat.

That's the thing I'm wondering about... if it's not for a start up company, than it's for an established one... but if the company is established, then does it really need the branding boost?

I don't know, I'm kinda torn on this... I can see how this would be a good idea, and a bad idea at the same time. That's why I'd like to hear from the program owners :)

robfantasy 09-04-2004 07:40 AM

i think its just another way of sponsors trying to show the size of their e-penis

seriosuly, why not take the 25-35k and give it back to the webmasters pushing the program.. or a lottery to get all the money.

If the image of the business was bring tarnished then it could help to boost it a bit :)

also... another thing that i dont get is.. ppl who push a sponsor just because they skni gfy usually dont have any traffic anyways...

i mean. u push traffic to programs taht convert to your traffic...

It might be a useful branding exercise, but you would need to follow-up with an effective campaign to translate improved brand recognition into affiliates/sales.
