thepost table is only 7mb... THAT should bne enough for a sep serv? i think not...
? |
You could do with some extra memory, although to be honest it doesn't look like your server needs it.
As for GFY i'm guessing theres 2-3 servers all dual xeons with at least 2gb ram in each.. + Load balancing. Although it could be my old 233mhz Pentium with 64mb of ram! And a mouse on a wheel to power it. |

If you want some real technical help with it.. shoot me an email at evilguy at gmail.com and I would be willing to have a look at all your settings and whatnot for you. You shouldn't have any probs at all running a forum that size on a machine with those specs. |

What version of what BB software are you using, and what OS is the server running?

@ Shadow : I just put in 512 to bring it up to 1 gig and it didnt do anything @ Evil: thanks i appreciate it... Im gonna mail ya @ railz: its invision board 1.3, serv is on RHE i looked over some mysql tweaking guides and they all obviously refer to my.cnf... thing is i have 3 copies of it on my serv... one hold nothing but the root account login, the other two hold the same info, which is only: [mysqld] set-variable = max_connections=500 safe-show-database |
its all about your mysql server, how you handle the database and its connections. as long as you have enough ram and your max_connections set right in my.cnf you should be ok

Use phpBB if you want a light weight server friendly board.
Otherwise get Zend / Ioncube and 2GB EEC Ram. Just saw that you use invision, use phpBB, it's free too and much better. |
|
I heard that Lens hosts GFY off his XBox.

Save the database and do a fresh install and that should help you out...

i looked into all the other boards before i bought vbulletin. im really happy with it and what it can do. ever thought about using it instead of invision?

Get someone that knows the software to look at it..your server is plenty..
if you were running something massive you would need multi servers..ours is running on 1 and is fast.. sometimes its your ads and that software that can load slowly |
