So I need to vent
 

Ok.
So as some here know, last summer my mother had a stroke, was hospitalized for a long time, then released to a home to care for her. She subsequently passed away last October.
I cut checks for every single outstanding bill at the time, paid for funeral and flowers and just all kinds of things as needed.
I found out later that her headstone wasnt paid off, so a couple of brothers and I split the costs and I cut 1 check for my portion and sent it off.

One of my brothers the other day says he's paying $20 a month on his part, which means it'll take 6 years to pay off (literally) and that they wont put up the headstone until it's paid.. sigh

Now today he sends me an attached letter that was sent to another brother who signed the admittance papers for my mother to the nursing home. It's a letter from a law firm. Apparently he never paid the final bill to the nursing home, now they're threatening to sue adding that they believe her assets were missappropriated or some such bullshit. It's all over like $1500 or something which I didnt even know was owed until today.

Well this year has been shitty for me for income, and I told him to call the firm and arrange payments then, because I'm in a bind here and watching some pennies. I told him that if I could, I'd simply write 1 check, mail it, and be done with it for gods sake, but that it was just a really bad time.

Now he sends me a reply like Oh well, then our brother may just have to suffer? What the FUCK. That really pisses me off. When I was doing well I wrote something like $10k in checks with no thought about it whatsoever, whereas he pays for something and immediatly divides it 4 or 5 ways and hits up the family to reimburse him, then has the balls to try to guilt me when I'm strapped myself and need medical attention to boot? Fucker.

So what would you do? I tell you, I'd like to pay this shit off *NOW*, get her headstone in place where it belongs ($20 a month he pays! 3 years of which is just interest!) and be DONE with it and let her rest :( damnit this is upsetting.

Put it on your CC. Never rely on your brothers again. Be sure they know how financially burdensome this is to you too.
