stopping password attacks
What do you guys use to stop dictionary based password attacks? I occassionally have problems with this with people using multiple proxy ips and random usernames/password to try and gain access to members area.

The problem is it slows up everything on Apache and makes websites very slow.

Not to steal anyone's light. I wrote a method a while back that consisted of a 3 try password banning system. So yeah. If you are interested, let me know.
