I mean, do they mean "We strongly suggest you leave for your own safefty"

or do they mean "Get the fuck out now, or we will _________ you later (if you survive)"

Good question CD. I think in a mandatory evacuation they will come and chase you out of your house if they feel its necessary.

Of course you get that many people trying to drive out on very few evacuation routes and you might as well stay in your house at some point.

Damn it sounds bad hopefully no one will lose their lives :(

On the news here they're saying now 2.5 million people in Fl. have been ordered to evacuate.... as in get out, not as in pee in a bottle.

They are also saying over 17 million people are in areas that are under severe storm watch or evacuation orders.

I dunno folks. Why anyone would stick around and shrug it off as "just another hurricane" is beyond me, I'd be running like a spottied-assed ape along about now, esp after seeing the photo of the storm that KRL posted.

I-95 got closed southbound, all 8 lanes north are dedicated to people moving out of there.

but being on the subject, im curious... how can you be "ordered" to leave your property? can you really be forced to leave if you own the property or is this "order" just a suggestion? what happens if you choose to not leave even if you were "ordered" to leave.... if you own the property cant you just tell them to fuck off?

I don't think they can force you off, but they turn off power and water and such once they evacuate an area. They can and will phsyically keep you from returning to your property (if you leave) until they declare the area safe.

People have been riding them out for years. The hurricane isn't the worst damaging part, the tornados that blast everywhere are.

Passing this one off as "just another hurricane" might prove out to be a gross mistake.

Indeed, and when you get a storm like this that comes along once every 20-25 years that is BIGGER than the entire state it's about to it..you know that EVERYONE is going to suffer to some degree! :(

They haven't evacuated where I live yet. So far only South Beach and a few areas north of West Palm Beach.

If you live in a trailer park, the cops will come to your house and tell you to leave.

If you live on the beach they might do the same.

Otherwise if they catch you out after an evac, they will escort you out.

So stay put in your house if you haven't evac'd.

If I lived there, I think I'd have gotten my sorry ass out of state and up to Tennessee by now.
