1.2 million people ordered to evacuate Florida's east coast
More than a million people along Florida's east coast were told to evacuate today as powerful Category 4 Hurricane Frances churned toward the state. Residents scrambled to board up homes and stock up on water. A hurricane warning was issued for about 300 miles of coastline from Florida City, near the state's southern tip, to Flagler Beach, north of Daytona Beach.
