pure energy 09-02-2004 12:35 AM

I go for Harry Potter

irishfury 09-02-2004 12:39 AM

Lord of the rings is all time classic.....

I like harry potter also...

Though my fav fantasy novels our the Chornicles of Amber

Shooter 09-02-2004 12:42 AM

LOTR, but to be fair I only saw bits and pieces of Harry Potter.

budz 09-02-2004 01:17 AM

I purchased the LOTR boxset, and not a single Harry Potter DVD,...

johnbosh 09-02-2004 01:20 AM

LOTR

Scott McD 09-02-2004 01:20 AM

Still not seen any Harry Potter movies, or LOTR movies...

:glugglug

2XY 09-02-2004 01:20 AM

LOTR....although I like Harry Potter too!

SykkBoy 09-02-2004 01:43 AM

as for the books, I've never read an LOTR book....so, the vote would go to Harry Potter, who after seeing the LOTR movies would seem to have been inspored by some of Tolkien's writings

with the movies, I've really loved both series and they both hold special places in my DVD collection...it would be like choosing a favorite child....

reynold 09-02-2004 01:51 AM

Harry Potter!

Project-Shadow 09-02-2004 03:17 AM

No brainer.. Harry Potter!.. not.
LOTR 4 Lyf3!

Mr. Mojo Risin 09-02-2004 03:18 AM

Harry Potter is kinda kiddy, so I vote LOTR

Goose 09-02-2004 03:20 AM

LOTR isn't even worth being compared with crap like Potter...
I don't understand the hype about this childish story anyway.

You sure you haven't got that the wrong way around? :1orglaugh

And...both for different reasons (books that is). They're completely different things and don't really hold up to comparison.

If talking about films then LOTR winds hands down but the Potter films are still more than watchable.

Silvebarbe 09-02-2004 03:27 AM

LOTR but I must say that I love the last movie of Harry Potter and read all the books.

Mr. Marks 09-02-2004 04:07 AM

I still don't fucking understand why Harry Potter became such a fucking hit.

excitica 09-02-2004 04:12 AM

Because people are dumb... :2 cents:

Bansheelinks 09-02-2004 04:52 AM

what a question............LOTR=only the best trilogy ever!

ramtar 09-02-2004 05:01 AM

Lord of the Rings kick ass what an awesome trilogy, Harry Potter is good but not even close to LOTR

Downtime 09-02-2004 05:19 AM

LOTR, no contest!

Lykos 09-02-2004 06:50 AM

Can't really decide, bouth series were great to watch and hardly wait for new:thumbsup

sherie 09-02-2004 07:37 AM

LOTR hands down!

hova 09-02-2004 08:42 AM

LOTR fuck that potter homo

HammerALL 09-02-2004 09:18 AM

Again - this is not really a good duo to compare. They belong in two distinct categories. But if I had to choose - it would be Lord of the Rings even though I did enjoy the Harry Potter series.

Tom_PMs 09-02-2004 09:23 AM

The Lord of the Rings story is the most read story in history next to the various versions of the Holy Bible.

Harry Potter.. well I've always looked at it as more of a childrens book series. I've seen the first movie when it got to commercial TV, and it was ok. But really aimed at children. Entertaining enough I guess. Not compelled to read the books though.

MR2raymond 09-02-2004 09:25 AM

LOTR!!!!

........and the movies, especially ROTK, were works of art. I enjoyed HP on just an entertainment value level, but, hey compared to LOTR? Not a chance.

Sarah_Jayne 09-02-2004 10:45 AM

LOTR in general but they are really two different types of movies that get thrown together because of when they both first came out.

Bansheelinks 09-02-2004 07:13 PM

looks like LOTR in a landslide

TweetyBird 09-02-2004 07:25 PM

Lord of the Rings, anytime. :glugglug

Yeah the movies are really nicely done.. Plus the bonus materials on the collectors DVD's is great stuff. The statuettes are cool too, lol.

quincy 09-03-2004 07:55 AM

LOTR..no question about it.
but i also kinda like the harry potter movies and book series.

the only prob i have with the LOTR trilogy is they didnt stick with the original story and had to chop a lot of good part in the book which should explain a lot of what happned in the movie, unlike in the HP movie where the director demanded that he wont do the movie unless the script remains faithful to the book (although in the latest HP movie, they also missed some vital scenes). Tolkien btw didnt intend for the LOTR to be a trilogy, but because of the length of the story, the publishet thought it's unwise and not economical to publish all 3 volumes in a single book. For those of you who had the patience to read the LOTR, i recommend reading The Silamrillion and The Unfinished Tales ^^

Bansheelinks 09-03-2004 09:07 AM

In case you may not know, a great website for LOTR is

http://www.theonering.net

It details upcoming dvd's, specials, events, literature, message boards, etc etc regarding the LOTR. Check it out if you haven't yet.

:thumbsup

zzgundamnzz 09-03-2004 09:10 AM

I would say Lord of the Rings. Been reading LOTR and the Hobbit since I was a kid.

I say its better to read about a midget with a magic ring than some nerdy kid who does magic.

Manowar 09-03-2004 09:15 AM

Dont really like either, but LOTR is better.

macho 09-03-2004 09:17 AM

I got for Lord of the Rings!:thumbsup

Tom_PMs 09-03-2004 09:21 AM

Yes of course the Silmarillion. Get the backstory to the Palantir, hehehe. Cool stories in there.

slickcashlisa 09-03-2004 09:24 AM

Lord of The Rings 1 Trillion Percent :)

phpslave 09-03-2004 09:26 AM

Not even on the same level, LOTR !!!

Vitasoy 09-03-2004 09:33 AM

From those two, I perfer LoTR

Jamdin 09-03-2004 11:02 AM

I like both :thumbsup
