What would it take to build a million visitor a day site these days?

In your opinion first of all do you think it is possible with so much competition these days to build a site up to a million uniques a day. Second of all what do you honestly think it would take to do it. I asked Alan, former owner of AL4A and he replied.

"Not sure about that. It would take a ton of cash...or something to thrust you in the public eye!"

He is probably right but I want to hear everybodys opinion?

Easy, you need to purchase 1M visitors daily

Problem solved

Something unique that gets media attention.

no, you need to buy 2m visitors daily, you know 50% of those 'bought' hits are from proxies (hitbots)...

The problem with media attention is that it gives you a big temporary boost. The traffic can fall off very fast...

I have to agree with that. And on top of that you get a lot of lookers and not buying. SO a big portion of the initial profit can be eaten by the bandwidth.

Does anyone have any idea of a basic ratio to number of visitors to signs for something like that??

I know it would vary from site to site, but just to get an idea.

Create the biggest pay site on earth, even bigger than Nastydollar's member area, and then give it away for free. That might attract 1 million visitors eventually.

I second that. Offering for free, what everyone else offers for a fee.
